The vet should have told you that your cat may still spray, and how to get them to stop. My cat stopped, but he still has the name Stinky! lol If you catch them spraying, squirt them with a squirt gun or better, shake a can of coins - it really gets their attention!! And, get rid of the smell asap or they will spray the same area again. If you have several males, they are competing with each other - not for sex, but for dominance.

They don't lose the urge to mate when they're neutered, but they can't reproduce. The younger they are when you neuter them, the better chance they won't start spraying. My cat was a stray from down the street when I found him, he was maybe 8 months old, and it took 2 months to win him. So he was nearly a year old I think, when I had him neutered. It took about 2 or 3 months to train him not to spray in the house. And he doesn't roam anymore. Only to the place he was born! lol

It may be because you waited to long to get the males neutered. As far as for them "doing the act of mating" that is a natural instinct. They will do it whether they are fixed or not.

He is already in the habit of spraying and/or they are re-marking each others spots. Try an odor-removing product with enzymes in it, I have lots of luck with this. Treat the area where they spray.

Generally, you want to neuter your cat before they start doing this, before they reach 6 mo of age.

well males will be males...lol...no just joking ,i think it has something to do with the age they were neutered .....were they already spraying when you got them fixed? if so then its going to take awhile for the behavior to be UN learned so to speak good luck let me know how things turn out.

When males get on top of other males, it's a show of dominance. Basically, they are establishing who's bigger and badder.

As far as spraying, talk to your vet. They can tell you more on that.

Ah, 'cause they're guys?

Seriously, if you didn't get them neutered until after they had matured sexually, this is what often happens. Next time, get them fixed as kittens.
