Cats move their babies a lot. That is exactly what she did. Completely normal, but unless you can follow her, you may not see the babies again.

As you've already gotten many similar.....I too am sure she moved them..they certainly would not have been old enough to crawl away themselves...I'm going to presume she is an outdoor cat so she certainly would have been a rare mom to accept you placing them in the box.......and depending on the age of your daughter unless she is able to be extremely careful it would not be good for her to carry them around until they are at LEAST 6 wks old.....and then I still cringe when I see todlers carrying kittens(or puppies) around by the neck..anyway...please get the female fixed.I'm sure if you need help with the cost try the Humane society or I'm sure you couldfind someone......it's just tragic the 1,000's of unwanted kittens and puppies put down each MONTH...and there are not nearly enough "No Kill' shelters around.........
Oh...and to those.."Oh the mother ate them"...I'm not saying that doesn't happen but I feel pretty certain that it would happen hours after they were born and not days.

Don't panic, many cats will hide their kittens. It is a natural instinct for the mother cat to do this. She probably was nervous about where they were for some unknown reason. You are better off to leave her alone with them for a few days, and just let nature take its course. She will bring them back eventually. If she is mainly an outdoor cat, she may keep them out in order to train them. If she is an indoor cat, she should bring them back when she is ready. You can watch her movements and eventually figure out where she has hidden them; but you should just let her be. Best of luck with the kittens, they are adorable!! Have a good night!!

Your mother cat most likely hid them to a new location. You said that YOU put the kittens in a box? This is not where mom had the kittens, right? She is uncomfortable with you moving them from her original birthing place. You mention your daughter, has she been messing with them a lot? This will also make your mother cat very uncomfortable. She needs peace and quiet right now with minimal disturbance.
As long as the mother cat hasn't moved them to a dangerous place, I'd suggest leaving her there. Stressing her out more and more is NOT a good thing as it may make her leave her kittens.

the mommy moved them somewhere maybe because she didnt like them handled too much. If you wait too long to find them, they will be wild when you do find them and you wont be able to handle then anyway because at that point they will be afraid of people. This happened to my cat about 2 months ago. I followed her after she came to eat, and I found them in the back yard of a neighbors house behind some logs. I took them back home and the mommy followed me all the way, never took her eyes off me. The are much safer with you as long as you dont handle them too much. Just make a safe little hidding place where mommy gets alot of privacy with her kitties. Good Luck!

Cats move their babies around like crazy. Once you think you've found them, they're gone again. My suggestion is to look high and low for them, and then take them and the mother cat and lock them somewhere in like a bathroom or something with a nice comfy box, water, etc(all of your kitty neccessities), ...and very few hiding places and keep them there for a while, or the kittens will turn wild and it'll be one big mess.

It sounds like you handled the kittens, and let your daughter do so as well. Very, very bad idea. Odds are that the mother has killed and eaten them.
Please get your cat neutered. In the meantime, know that you should never handle a creature's newborns. Even if the cat adores you, you messed up her scent identification of her babies, or even made her feel they were endangered.
Lots of people don't realize that, and lots of animals don't react badly. If yours is a first-time mom, she is especially susceptible to reacting badly to your well-intended interference.
If it does turn out that she relocated them to a place she liked better, leave them alone!

i'm so sorry :( this could be a repeat answer, yet follow the mummy. Pay close interest to her, the place she is going, the place she likes to cover, any kinds or clues as to the place the kitten could be. the rationalization could be by using fact you have been giving them too a lot interest. If achieveable, ought to you progression the kittens and the mummy interior your companion and teenagers till they're sufficiently previous to project exterior? If I have been on your shoes, i could concern that another animal could discover the kittens till now you do. good luck & happy looking (err.. kitten finding..) i actually desire you come across them!

Yes, cats do carry their kittens away if there's too much activity or they don't feel safe. They probably won't bring them back, however, they probably didn't go far and you may be able to hear them when their a little older. Look in a quiet spot.

Most likely the mother took them to a place SHE feels they are safe. Do NOT move them. Let her raise them where she wants, or she may abandon them. How would you feel if someone kept moving your newborn daughter out of where you thought she was most safe. Its the same thing with your cat. When they are older, they will follow your cat everywhere, and you and your daughter will be able to watch and cuddle the little balls of fur. =)
Also, when the kittens are all adopted, please please PLEASE spay your kitty!!! There are WAY too many unwanted kittens as it is. =(

Yes, they do hide their kittens to protect them. I would suggest following her to find out where they may be. They cannot protect themselves at this stage, so I would try to find them as soon as possible. I don't know how far she would have gone, but I do know someone whos cat took their kittens a few blocks over, so if you know your neighbours, just pass the word around. I hope you find them. :"o( Keep us posted!
