Take a good look at a banana. A banana has groves on it that match up perfectly with the lines of our hand when we close it around the banana. It curves toward our mouth, and has a pull tab. It shows that this world is purposed. Evolution is so absurd. Why aren't monkey's turrning into humans now? Did evolution just stop at some point? Why are we not turnig into something else? We are here on purpose and we have a purpose. We are not here just to exist.

There is no evidence to support Darwinian evolution. Even Darwin himself predicted as much. There is, however, plentiful evidence to support creationism. You wouldn't look at the Mona Lisa and say, "Huh! Amazing, random, creator-less piece of art!" Evidence of intentional design is EVERYWHERE. Evolution is all a grand conspiracy to erase God. Certain people want to erase God so they can advance their morally-bankrupt premise of moral relativism.

Now that I said that, watch the lib posters go NUTS.

Ready, set, LIBS GO NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't take much.

Normally i'm not masochistic enough to answer this sort of question, but im the mood at the moment.

Firstly, did you know that humans are the only species that opens a banana from the stem? Most animals open it from the bottom; it's easier that way.

Have you ever tried to think of a non-god-related reason that a banana would be so perfectly fit for human consumption?

Because, whether or not you're aware of it, there is a reason. It evolved that way.

"But why would a banana evolve like THAT? What are the odds?"

Pretty good, actually. The bananas that were the most fit for consumption were actually the ones that reproduced the most; it's the simplest form of natural selection. Being eaten benefits banana trees because it helps them propogate.
Ever wonder why banana seeds are so tiny? It's so that they pass right through you. When an animal eats a banana, and then deficates, the banana seeds are in its feces. It's a perfect arrangement for a banana tree - it gets to spread its seeds much farther (since animals move around, and trees don't), and when the seeds are deposited, they're put down inside a chunk of natural fertilizer - feces.

So that's why bananas evolved the way they did. The ones most fit for animal consumption are the ones that reproduce the most.

Did you ever learn much about evolution?
Evolution doesn't happen on a human time scale. It takes *millions* of years for appreciable changes to occur. You'll never see huge changes in your lifetime, or even a few lifetimes.
A million years is a long...long time. In a million years, you could 12,658 full lives. It's literally unimagineable for a human; we cannot appreciate a million years the same way we can appreciate 10 minutes or 3 months. And it takes multiple millions of years for evolution to happen.

But none of that will change your mind. You'll still believe evolution is silly, and you'll probably die that way. You don't ask these questions because you want to learn; you ask them to try to make a point. And now that you understand why your points are moot (if you even bothered to read and understand what i wrote), you'll just switch to some other catchy line of "reasoning". And when that's debunked, you'll choose yet another logical fallacy or bad metaphor to make points with. And so on.

If, in the unlikely event you wish to really learn about evolution, nature, and life, here's a good website to visit. It's all about evolution, and it also addresses many of the theologically driven beliefs that some people have:
http://www.talkorigins.org/

And evolution isn't something you "believe" in. It's like the sky being blue; it's an immutable fact of life.

If you don't understand science or logic, don't try to debate it.

As far as the banana argument goes: what about the coconut? Or the pineapple? These are quite difficult to attain and ready for food preparation. Secondly, the bananas that you see in the supermarket have been scientifically altered. The bananas which grow in the wild could actually be quite different. Third, what about the other foods that we make and adapt to our needs? Why isn't all food self-contained? Why just the banana? And finally, the banana is also perfectly designed to place in other orifices on the human body. Does that mean that "God" wants humans to practice sodomy?

And about your misinformed opinions on evolution: modern apes and humans both came from a common ancestor; they evolved seperately, and in seperate environments. And animals are consistently changing and adapting; everytime a bacteria becomes immune to medicing, or an insect becomes immune to a pesticide, evolutionary adaptation is occuring. The reason that humans are no longer changing is because humans have seperated themselves from nature; technology has provided humans with a way around "survival of the fittest." For example: in nature, an animal with poor eyesight might not last long. With humans however, we merely correct this deformity with glasses.

Anyway, now that you are educated, I certainly hope that you will stop spouting off ignorant bilge such as what you wrote. Please try to think logically in the future.

So because a banana fits perfectly in you hand evolution is absurd! WOW! What about all the fruit that do not fit? A watermelon is rather awkward to handle. There is no "real" accredited scientist that denies evolution. If scientists were so wrong how would they be able to come up vaccines and genetic engineering? How would they be able to clone creatures? Can you do that? Can you build a plane? Your comments show that you do not even understand the very beginning of the theory. Nobody claims that complex creatures like mammals spontaneously change into totally different creatures. In complex creature it happens over thousands or even millions of years. In viruses it happens in a very short period of time that's why vaccines have to keep up with those changes. So no, evolution hasn't stopped, it is still happening but very slowly in us so it will take a long time for us to look significantly different. Sorry if reality interferes with your ability to find meaning in your life.

There was evidence of evolution in the last 3 months. Finches on the Galapagos Islands had a noticable change in the size of their beaks in order to compete for food. This is called micro-evolution. It's also what makes finding a missing link so difficult. Macro-evolution is the culmination of hundreds of thousands of years of micro-evolution. You won't neccesarily see the small changes that occured because of environmental needs until they become the norm.

Using a banana to prove "intelligent design" is weak, at best. A stick will also fit into the lines of your hand too...does that mean that god created primitive weapons? Humans aren't evolving noticably at the moment simply because, we have what we need for survival at this moment in cosmic history. Besides, do you intend to live for another 500,000 years to see if it truly has stopped? Or would you rather take a look at all of the work that has been done on the subject, scientifically, and the evidence its provided. Denying the plausibility of evolution is similar to putting your fingers in your ears and yelling "LALALALA".

Before this is pointed out, yes, evolution is a theory. So is gravity, and the earth traveling around the sun. Science has the ability to have something proven wrong, because you can then do the work, and prove it right. Religion and faith on the other hand have to have their words twisted, because as soon as one aspect is proven false, the whole thing begins to crumble.

These posts always sadden me, not because you believe one way or another, but because of the fallacious logic you use in supporting your belief. Why only bananas are made perfectly to be eaten and not oranges - what a pain they are! What leads you to believe monkeys aren't still evolving? The assumptions in your argument do not provide a solid foundation. Please do me a favor and actually learn about evolution, the explanation it gives for your questions, and the reasons (and scientific evidence) that make people think it is a valid theory. Before you begin to argue against something, you really have to know everything you can about it. While I don't expect any of it to make you believe in evolution, I think the info will help you understand why others do and better inform similar arguments in the future.

While I do not believe that the concepts of evolution and creationism are mutually exclusive, because quite frankly proponents for neither side have adequately eliminated the other, however I must say, your arguments are not doing the creationist concept any favours.

The ever so popular creationist argument of "why aren't monkeys turning into humans now", is just so ridiculously small-minded, that it most certainly doesn't help the cause.

You sound like a very young girl simply regurgitating the opinions you have heard from others, rather than doing any independent study on your own, to form your own opinion. You're not doing the creationist camp any favours with these arguments.

The process takes thousands of generations.

Of what use is an appendix in the human body? It has the same relative position in the digestive system as organs in other mammals that have a type of second stomach to digest rough plants fibers. We don't have it and it occasionally has to be removed so that people don't die from the toxins it produces.

It's either something that doesn't work and was put in us for no functional reason by a god, or it's a hold over from our genetic past. Either god screwed up or evolution is a bigger concept than you are wiling to take the time and mental effort to really learn.

Evolution works on a time scale that is far longer than human civilization. Stop trying to force the universe into human time - that is arrogance and attempting to force "god" into a box that you can understand.

Yes well, some people have few brains and others have more. Do you know which category you obviously fall into?

How do you know that God (for you believers) really cares about human beings? Imagine this. You’ve just bought a new home which you furnish with all sorts of nice fittings and fixtures, then prepare the grounds and garden. You plant a wide range of trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and vegetables. You clip and prune as time goes on, spray the weeds, and generally keep your property in good shape.

Many years pass and your gardens are flourishing, not a weed to be seen anywhere. You head off on holiday, a weed pops up and bugs start to crawl all over it. Not to worry, when you return home you spray the gardens, killing all the bugs and weeds. Everything is back to normal.

Now consider the universe. After billions of years a little planet (weed) called Earth pops up and it’s crawling with bugs called humans. Do you really think the gardener (or creator) really cares about the bugs and weeds? Do you think the gardener cares if he destroys you? Do you think that the bugs (humans) on the weed (Earth) have any idea what’s going on in the rest of garden (universe)? What happens to all human beings is just the same as what happens to all bugs and weeds.

Scientists may soon explain why some people are religious and why there’s so much trouble caused in the world by religion. Scientists have already shown that some people carry a "warrior" gene that makes them more prone to violence and criminal acts.

Some people are genetically predisposed to violence and criminal acts, and I suspect scientists have also found that some people are genetically predisposed to spiritual acts, but have yet to publish their findings to avoid a public uproar.

Scientists will probably find that people who are predisposed to the “spiritual” gene are probably more likely to also be predisposed to the “warrior” gene, which would ultimately cause these people to have religious conflicts like crusades and wars. It is already a well known fact that religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began.

There must be a rational explanation why religious people act in such an irrational manner.

Well in a way humans are evolving but its more of a matter of diet. Over the past few centuries the average height has in increased by quite a few inches.

The flaw in your assumption that evolution isn't happening is time scale and a lack of understanding of evolution.

In our modern world humans can't evolve becauser the world is conected. Leaps in evolution occur when there is a population limiting effect, geographic isolation, or drastic environmental shift. For evolution of new species you need genetic defects. Small popultions cause inbreeding and environmental shift can amplify already existant genetic defects.

The reason we don't see species evolution in other species beside bacteria is because natural science is only a couple hundred years old and that time frame is two short.

The only evolution we see is extinction caused by human influence on the environment.

Evolution never claims that (individual) monkeys spontaneously turn into humans. Your understanding of evolution is already in question with a comment like that.

Evolution happens to a species, not to individual creatures within that species. I'm not going to walk down the street, and 'evolve' a new arm. That's reserved for comic books.

I feel that before you can make a strong argument against evolution, you need to take the time to actually read up on evolution and understand precisely what it theorizes. Otherwise, you're doing little more than beating down a strawman that you built.

I'll give you a starting point for your research under sources.

(Addendum : They say somebody skilled in debate actually learns to debate both sides of an argument - if you don't understand the opposing side completely, you're going to be faced with an uphill battle trying to argue against it.)
