First off, never store tea in the freezer. The moisture in there will destroy the flavor. If kept in an air tight container in a cool dark place (almost any kitchen cabinet will work) tea will keep for 1 1/2-2 years

it wont necessary "expire" meaning that it goes bad....but if left for too long, it will begin to lose its flavor and if you use loose tea leaves, its possibly that humidity can cause your tea to grow mold or it can be infested with bugs.
if you know you wont use it that often, i dont suggest buying in bulk. buy small boxes of tea bags or smaller containers of loose tea leaves.

It will eventually go stale, but it will last longer if stored in an opaque (or dark) air-tight container. If you want your tea to taste great, don't put it in the freezer.
