If someone is suffering from the grip of gluttony, what would a good thing to do be? If food is an addiction for them, what could they do. any suggestions? yes, stop eatin so much, the obvious, but that is like telling a smoker just step smoking so much, but that would be even easier in the way that you have to eat, you cant just stop altogether, you need food to live, so how does one use moderation and work for good and not a fab diet. Gluttony is a sin, God answers prayers but then the devil steps in and ruins it. Some real answers please and it would be awesome if it were a christian giving the advice, a brother or sister in Christ giving loving advice and helpful advice would be awesome. God bless everybody. John 3:16

If you are truly asking about gluttony, I am not sure I am qualified to help you, but if you are overweight and still eat more than you feel you should, I suggest you try the Beverly Hills Diet by Judy Mazel. It gives wonderful advice on how to combine foods and eat healthy while losing weight easily and without exercise or hunger.

Please understand that gluttony does not just apply to food. Gluttony applies to anything you are addicted to. The real answer is everything in moderation right? First, pray to God for strength, comfort and forgiveness (you did ask for a christian answer). The second thing to do is to make a conscious (sp?) effort to SEEK HELP. Addiction cannot be conquered alone. Have someone you are held accountable to.

Ok, when Jesus was fasting in the wilderness the desire for Him to turn stones into bread came from the devil himself! James 5:8 states "submit to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you, draw near to God and He will draw near to you." You have no authority on which to resist the devil unless you are first humble and submitted to God's total authority. the draw near to Him to fill the void that gluttony once filled. Place that thing under the power of the Cross.

SEND THE FOOD TO ME!

Sorry, I just had to say that!

If I know someone who "suffered" from gluttony, I would suggest that they switch to healthy foods that are not addictive. a.k.a. no sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no white flour....

Just try to be a glutton with cotage cheese, salads, and meat....It's much harder.

Hope that helps,

Josh K.

here's some things that will cut your apetite:
chew ice when your hungry
chew gum
mix one tablespoon vinager + one tablespoon honey together, drink mixture before you eat meals (it makes a bitter taste in your stomach, so you get full faster)

in addition, exercise more, you'll have less time to eat

Whenever you feel like eating, pick up you Bible and "eat" the Word. I don't mean take the pages out and eat them. Read and pray when you feel like eating. God will take the desire of your snacking away.
