I can't afford to take him to a vet.......

Our 10 week old puppy fell down the stairs at my apartment. I think he may have hurt his leg.

give it time it could heel it's self...........wrap it with self sticking gauze.......you can get that at any drug store....the vet's use that so they cant get it off and just keep an eye on your puppy to see if it's getting better

You need to talk to your vet about a payment plan and have the puppy checked out.
.
If you got a puppy, you needed to be able to afford it's vaccinations, food, leash/collar, and toys.

An animal is a responsibility and not to be taken lightly. How did the puppy get near the stairs to the apartment in the first place?

If he fractured his leg, it needs to be addressed. If you truly do not have enough money for a vet exam, take him to the nearest shelter that has an associated vet or to a humane society. Explain the problem and hopefully they'll help your dog.

You also need to sit down and seriously evaluate your ability to maintain a 10-week-old puppy in a safe, manner and environment, keep it current on vaccinations, and give it the training it needs to be a good companion.

Is there a bone sticking out? Or is he limping? My 12 week old puppy jumped off the bed and broke his leg, one time. If you can't afford to take care of an animal it is cruel to get one and let it hurt. Don't give him any human medicine, it can do more harm than good. Watch him over night and take him to the vet in the morning if he is still limping around.

You need to take him to the vet.

If he genuinely has broken his leg, he needs x-rays to determine the location & extent of the break so that you can get it repaired properly. A splint is not going to repair every kind of break. Also, if a splint is needed -- it needs to be properly applied according to the location of the break and applied by a professional. It's not an at-home job.

If he has simply pulled a muscle or something, your vet can get you anti-inflammatories and pain killers to help him recover.

Sell something, borrow some money, work out a payment plan with your vet, or worse comes to worse.... save some money and go to the vet later. Though he really needs to go now.

I don't want to sound harsh, but why do you have a dog if you can't afford to take care of it? Not taking the dog to the vet if it is seriously hurt is illeagal and you could be arrested for cruelty/neglect. I think that you can call the ASPCA and tell them that he may be hurt and you can't afford to take him to the vet and they will come and get him and give him free medical care. Just please don't wait too long and let him suffer.

You really dont' ahve a choice. If he really is hurt, you have to take him to the vet. It could be serious, and it should not go ignored.

Does he yelp if you try to touch it? Take him to your local SPCA and tell them you don't have the money for a vet. They should check him out for you.
