defrag is not the only solution to a slow-running system.

- Are you running a complex screensaver in the background? Uses memory.
- Did you run an error check? My Computer, Properties, Tools
- In IE, Tools, Internet Options - delete cookies, delete files
- Are you running multiple programs simultaneously with limited RAM?
- from Start,Run type msconfig renew
- Are you in a large file? If so, save your work frequently to save memory.
- Using Yahoo toolbar? Run anti-spy

There can be any number of reasons why your PC is still running slow. It could be your PC's processor speed or amount memory. Do you have a fair amount of free space on your hard drive? Do you have a lot of applications loaded on your PC? What is the setting of your virtual memory? Try running Belarc Advisor... do a search on google... its GOOD and free.

One program you could try is CrapCleaner, also known as CCleaner. Find it on download.com. This program is free, and it basically goes through and gets rid of unneeded folders and files on your computer, stuff you don't need. My brother used it on his computer, and it helped a ton. It runs much faster now.

You also may want to try Ad-Aware and Spybot. Ad-Aware targets popups, cookies, and other files you may get from internet use. Spybot targets spyware. Using these can also get rid of unwanted programs, free up space, and speed up your computer. Both these programs are also free, and are on download.com as well.

Hope these are helpful.
