Since human rights, civilization, justice, rule of law sort of things today, have become the contents of lips & papers, who cares if its not practiced. You do have all the freedom to join Israel's war against innocent people of Lebanon.
You just move and join Israelis with cheers right now and enjoy killing children, women and elderly people of Lebanon. Be the Hero of the millinium. Who stops you, because your big brother Bush is already there to back the Israelis. Moreover, you set the standards of democracy, human rights, governance for others and you want to see that everything moves in your way of thinking.
We are scared to note that its not 1941, the world has changed a lot in last 65 years since WWII. Hitlers and Musolinis of 40's didn't go unchallenged. Can the US and it's allies afford to think, they will go unquestioned this century and beyond.
We don't want to see that you only be a notorious part of the past and not of glorious history of the world.

Strictly speaking, as an American citizen, it is verboten to even consider enlisting in a foreign military, or volunteering for any armed force (paramilitaries, terrorist groups) overseas.
The overwhelming majority Americans who volunteered with the Eagle Squadrons and Flying Tigers were officers who "resigned" their commissions and with government connivance (and material support) ended up fighting as deniable mercenaries.
The key thing to remember is that they had the full support of the Federal government. Most of them were re-integrated back into their respective service branches once America declared war on the Axis powers, reassuming their commissions.
Hezbbollah is considered as a terrorist organization. Aiding and abetting Hezbollah by any means will eventually see you hauled up in front of a Federal magistrate. Take a look at the John Walker Lindh case.
Should you choose to attempt to fight on behalf of Hezbollah - an extremely doubtful proposition in itself considering the strength of their internal security and the rigorous vetting of personnel chosen to be their fighters - you do so entirely at your own risk.

It's a tough question. I mean there are people in prison in the US for spying on behalf of Israel, but then joining the IDF is fine? I saw on the news yesterday there's an 18 year old guy from Toronto who has signed up for the IDF. I have to wish him luck, but I'd also like to ask him what's wrong with joining the Canadian Forces. How many countries can a person have?

The world has enough experience of war. In modern war nobody is winner. The idea to go to Israel for helping is good. However, it should be for preaching peace in Middle East. Think about future generations.

Only jews can enlist in the Israeli military if not a citizen. If Americans join the Israeli military, they might as well be traitors

There are Jewish-Americans who do go over and serve. They serve the general required term and then go back as needed.
