you can open up to someone,just by being yourself. but don't expect that other person to open up back, just because you did it. sometimes its just not that easy for everybody. but if you stick in there and show that person that you are loyal and you are in it for the long run. You'll love that person no matter what - then eventually he or she will open up to you.

There are two things that will get him to open up to you.
1) Time - it takes time for relationships and trust to build. Some people do not open up easily. It takes time for them to build a relationship and closeness to you before they are comfortable opening up.
2) Opening up to him - if you open up to him first, he is more likely to reciprocate.
