Abilify might make you less paranoid.
Try it for a while and see if you feel like you are better off taking it or not taking it. Always give the meds a good try and let your doc know if they are helping or not.

You struck a nerve when I read your question. Trying to stabilize your manic episode is hard enough, but paranoia will make it unbearable. I've gone through mania and bad paranoia many, many times for years and it can be so discouraging when you try many different meds without good results, but I give you credit for hanging in there and continuing to try. I began taking Abilify about 2 1/2 years ago because I had that awful feeling of being watched all the time too and I really had no hopes of it being any better than the other ones, but it worked great. I was given 5mg to take at bedtime, and it didn't make me groggy the next day or leave me in a fog, cause weight gain, it just slowly eased that ugly feeling until it evaporated. It was the only psychotherapeutic medication that did what it was supposed to do and let me feel like myself. I would give it a chance, definitely. Good luck to you.

I am bp also i go through the manic highs and the manic lows without my medication. If he wants to put you on abilify maybe it will work for you to. If you have anxiety and panic attacks you might want to at least try the medication to get some of your symptoms under control. Remember to take it everyday though because if you don't take your meds you will go right back to feeling the way that you do now.

Abilify is a real good medicine. I was on it for about a year. It really helps if you are having hallucinations. What other meds have you been on? Have you tried lithium?

Try the Abilify. And be sure to tell the truth about any illicit drugs you may be using.

Hello,
I am very sorry to hear of your mental illness known as manic depression/bipolar disorder. Anxiety empowers the feeling of pass memories, as well as things that make you insecure. I think you should talk with another doctor, to see what his/her opinion is, and to see if there are other things you can do. If you have any questions, please contact the NMHA, or message me.
Sincerely,
Justin Curtis
