that is your level, it indicate your current level when you have answered or asked a question. probably it will change as time goes by, it just started today.
my opinion on this one, i think it will benefit others in YA either to give you a slack and pick you for the best answers or check your q & a 's and see if you are deserving to answer a question. but don't worry we've been there in some point of time when we started, so keep on answering, you will enjoy every bit of it.
about me, i don't care about the level part, since i love to read different opinion, ideas and suggestion, i like it very much, feel like brainstorming session...

click on levels to find out what they are about.
the level of a contributor to Answers is just a measure of how active the person is..... the more active you are the higher up the levels you go...
It is a fun way to spend some spare time and gives us all a chance to interact in a (hopefully) friendly way.

they let you ask and answer more questions, higher levels mean more asking and answering
