You can also try Catholic charities. They can probably help out with school clothes if your kids have grown out of their old ones and with school supplies. If you have even a little money Target has big sales around this time where you can get 10 packs of paper for $1 and pencils, ink pens for 50c and crayons for like 20c. Try there. Don't get too discouraged, I know it's really hard, lots of people have lost their jobs and can't find another one. Some people on here are ignorant to the fact tht its not all about being too lazy to find a job. McDonalds is great for a teenager but it won't pay for ones rent, utilities, gas, childcare, insurance and food even working 50 hours a week. What do they expect one to do with their younger children while working? Childcare costs money. People need to take a social welfare class and they'd know this. God Bless, I hope you find a good job soon.

Well I can't help you find a job but as far as school supplies you could call your local Salvation Army or if you have a Community Action. In my town they are helping low income family with school supplies. If you belong to a church or even some schools also have people who donate to student that are able to supply their own. When you send your kids back to school try ask the school they might have such donors.
I really don't know all of your problem but I would suggest a local food place they are always looking for good workers, if you have the patience and a clean record, good daycare providers are always needed.
good luck to you
May God Bless You Soon

Ok first of all, I'd suggest to keep your head up and keep looking for a job. As for the school supplies, I would set up a garage sell to help with money and ask around for some financial help to get by. For example, I'm sure your church, family, or friends could help you out in your situation. Another thing that might help is to cut down on luxeries such as, cable, internet, phone, and I would say less water/electricity/air conditioning. Another idea would be to ask your neighbors to see if your sons could mow their lawn for 20 bucks once a week or something. Well I hope life gets better and don't worry everything will be okay. God Bless!

You should be receiving unemployment and you should qualify for food stamps. What about the children's father? There must be better resources out there than the Yahoo! answer board. Isn't there something you can sell or pawn like a watch, a ring, a bracelet? Your kids may not get new school clothes, not all children do (even the ones with working parents). Sorry.

There are organizations designed to help people in your situation. You may want to try contacting your local school board and ask them for suggestions. They will likely know which organizations can help you not just with school supplies, but probably also with new clothes and maybe even food while trying to get back on your feet.
You may want to try contacting a temp agency to help you get some work until you can find a permanent job. Good luck! I will be praying for you.

There is no soliciting for money on this site. Its against policy. However, The Salvation Army is doing a huge school supply drive. All you have to do is tell them you need help. They'll give you school supplies for the kids.
Please go through the page I linked. The county resource pages (starting at page 3) should have just about contact number you need.

Call the school district and school and explain what has happened. Ask if they have any spare school supplies your children can use.
Contact local charities and find out if one in your area gives school supplies out to poor children.
Ask your Food Stamps/Medicaid caseworker for references.
Have your kids mow lawns, walk dogs, or do odd jobs for the neighbors to earn money. Then take them to the dollar store for supplies.
Good luck!

Hi, where I'm from they have a school supply drive every year to collect school supplies for the children in families who can't afford to buy them. My suggestion for you is to call around to your local TV stations or radio stations and ask them if they know of anything like that in your area. One of our local TV stations hosts our school supply drive. You could also get in contact with your children's schools and see if they know of anything like that.
I hope everything works out for you and best of luck.

Have you heard of freecycle.org? It's a website where people local to you can meet your requests for things pretty fast.
You can post things there if you don't want them, and people will post things to give away.
You can also post your requests, and I've often seen school supplies and school clothes on freecycle in my town.
Good luck to you and your young ones!

I personally cannot help you but I know that if you contact a local Salvation Army Church they would help you! As a matter of fact I am sure that there must be a social agency willing to help you and your family!
I will pray for you!
