I have heard of something called Grapefruit Xanax. What does grapefruit do when you use Xanax? Does it make it work more or less? Thanks

Please don't take Xanax. I took it for 6 months at 1mg per day, and wanted to see how I would be without it. It was making me paranoid and I was experiencing unprovoked anger and becoming way more anxious than I was to begin with. All on 1mg. I looked it up and that drug was marketed incorrectly. It is dangerous and causes damage if you are to use it more than 4-8 weeks. It is really an acute (current) drug. I stupidly went cold turkey off of it and thought I might just die. That was two weeks ago and I am still not back to normal. I hope you don't get started on it. I realize people need anxiety medication, I do too, I will be taking another long acting one instead. Be careful, hon. I almost lost 7 years of sobriety, I really wanted to drink. I was in bed in the fetal position with fear, anxiety and dread. If I had not had God and some serious support, I may have killed myself. Just think about it before you go down that road.

Eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice wil interfere with your body's proper absorption of Xanax. It will not make it work better. I'm not a healthcare professional, but I know that all prescription vials of Xanax have a warning sticker that says not to eat or drink grapefruit.

Taking these medications with grapefruit juice is very dangerous and can lead to toxic effects of the medication: meaning you can die depending on the medicaiton you are taking. You can basically OD.
