I believe in a blend of science and theology. I like to think there is a place for logic within the Christian faith as well as room for the "grand scheme of things". Is it cool to consider myself Christian if I believe in God and the existance of Jesus as messiah, yet do not disregard a scientific approach as well. Why couldn't god be behind science? I feel conflicted a lot, but still have a general belief in Christianity. I want to think that there is more out there.

I agree with you, and think that you should be congratulated on your open-minded views.

You said, "...Why couldn't god be behind science?" I believe that He is. It's only the religious fundamental fanatics who refuse to understand this, probably because their intellect is much too weak to comprehend such an obvious concept.

Christianity and Science go very well together. There are many Christians that are also professional scientists. Most people think of Christians as being against science but this is usually not the case...

As long as it is PURE science, then it is OK in my book...

My problems with scientists comes when they start spouting theory as fact... for instance... there is NO PROOF that dinosaurs ever LIVED or roamed the earth.... some people will laugh and say.. what about all the fossils and footprints.. etc... well.. I don't know... maybe God created the earth with the fossils in it just the way they are today... or maybe they were all created by an alien science club initiation ritual or something... the MOST PROBABLE explanation is that they DID roam the earth and died and their bodies became fossils... but it is NOT FACT until it is proved...

Some scientists say "well you don't have proof that God lives"... OK.. sure... I don't have proof... I don't NEED proof ... religion is NOT SCIENCE... and it requires FAITH... not proof.... but that does not take away the requirement for science to have proof...

I read someplace that someday God will roll up the earth like a scroll... that will be interesting to witness... the laws of Physics in action... as God knows them.

exactly! whatever science discovers God has made. Science just goes into way more detail than religion. The Bible (7 day creation)was inspired in a simple way so everyone can understand. While science (big bang, evolution, etc) shows the specific intricate stages/steps of God's creation. I like to believe in thiestic evolution, where God guided the process. It makes much more sense that life had a creator rather than chaos and random chance. peace.

Christianity and science are just about at opposite ends of each other. To experience God the Father or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit in your life is just a matter of believing in Him. To experience God from a scientific point of view would take 2 years of explaining things away and experiments which would bring you no closer to the truth. I think it would be wise to not sit on the fence and choose whether you believe in God wholeheartedly or not. A great amount of peace and joy comes with wholly committing and surrendering yourself to God and His ways.

I believe in both as well :)

I find that there is no conflict between True Science and the Christianity of the Bible... Feel free to contact me if you wish further dialog on this topic (or check out http://www.GodSci.org and the articles and links on that site).

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm

Cordially,
John

I think there is some validity in your thinking, but if you want to be a true Christian then there is no question about it... it is all GOD. There could be more out there that we will never understand... we, as humans, just don't have that capacity. God is not within our range of really understanding what, or who, He is... we go on faith and love, and yes, fear. God is a vengeful God and is not happy when we disregard his Word and twist it up to our own liking.

More science supports and agrees with the Bible than not. When I say there is science that does not agree with the Bible, I am talking about theories from scientists such as evolution - to the extent that man came from apes. There are passages in the Bible in which God encourages people to reason and think to know God speaks the truth and to not be blinded or easily fooled.

Well said. The supposed schism between religion and science is perpetuated mostly by non-scientists. Did you know that in 2000 86% of astronomers in North America reported themselves as Catholic? These are hardcore scientists who see no conflict at all.

If you truly embrace science you would need some actual proof that God exists. There is none, that conflicts with a scientific mindset.

Yes, the attached link is a book about your very question, it's free to order (actually all the material on the site is free, because freely God give us his word therefore all things concerning his word should be freely given), and can give you insight with chapter and verse from the bible (in context) about the validity of the Bible as it's coinsides with science. The site is a non-denominational (no bullsh*t approach) to the word of god.
