Definitely surf through EBay. My other half bought my ring from there and got an awesome deal. It retails for $1200.00 and he got it for $80.00 (including shipping). I was skeptical about the purchase, figured it was one of those to good to be true deals, but it was not. It looks beautiful, diamonds are real, and was extremely affordable. Great source for inexpensive jewelry worth every penny.

Apparently the symbol means more to you than what the actual cost of the ring. I think what you've decided is fine. There are some girls who don't even get a ring because of the cost!
If you can go with silver you should be okay. Sometimes the electroplated gold will turn dark if it reacts to your skin. Either way, here's a couple.

Someone told me about a site where you can design your own cz ring, but I couldn't find it. And they're a bit more expensive.
Good Luck!

walmart.....Obviously the diamond quality is much lower than normal...but they have crazy prices like $900 for a 1 carat solitaire...lol...which is more than $50 but what I'm trying to say is that you can get really cheap rings there that unless you carefully inspect the diamond would suit you just fine I'm sure....they also have men wedding bands there for really cheap like titanium for $45...
hope you find something....if worst comes to worst you can always buy a gemstone in a real gold setting...it would be cheap and still nice....aquamarine is a little pricy but might work well...its price is NO where near that of a diamond...You could buy a great one for $200 and a good one for probably around $100...$50 is going to be hard to find...but you can probably buy Cubic Zirconia bridal sets on ebay for around that price...

If money is that tight, you might want to think outside the box. Instead of a traditional diamond solataire, what about something in sterling silver?
QVC has a lovely selection of Diamonique. Their Epiphany line is very nice, too. Don't know if that will be $50 or less (US prices, remember), but it's a start.

Wal-Mart! You can get almost anything at that store. I've seen really nice engagement and wedding rings there. I saw one set for $70. That's a good price. Or you could even try a hawk shop. I wouldn't buy rings at either one of those places, though, 'cause I'm not cheap. Hello Tiffany's! Good luck!

I think that's great you are in the market for a cheap engagement ring. My g/f said if I ever ask her to marry me, she wants a fake diamond, but real band.
That's great you are the way you are! A ring is a material thing anywho!
Maybe Wal-Mart?

Traditionally, you're supposed to spend the equivalent amount of one month's salary on the wedding set (2 rings - one you give when you propose, the other you save for the wedding). I hope you make more than $50 a month!

Honestly, if it true love, your fiancee won't care. My husband had originally given me a ring that he bought for $5.00 at a fair. It was made from tin and glass. He has since bought me a 1 carat diamond in white gold. That ring sits in my jwelery box and I were the tin one. Check out K-mart, Wal-mart, etc. Also, look at flea markets and fairs!
