Speaking English is the American way. When my grandparents emigrated from Norway, it was required to become a citizen. They raised their five children to speak English and English was the only language spoken in the home. But then again, my grandparents LOVED this country, and were grateful that this country had given them the opportunity to improve their way of living by becoming a part of it. Gratitude for opportunities and for the people who provide them is a trait that is markedly missing from those who enter this country illegally and refuse to learn the language that is spoken here.
Either the United States of America is a sovereign country or it is not. A sovereign country has the right to maintain it's culture and it's language. The language of this country is English. As a matter of fact, the language used internationally for air travel (in the control towers and on the radios) is English. There is a reason that English is taught internationally as a second language in all major Universities and schools. English is not only the universal language of the world, but it is the language of business and science. Only those who don't care to advance their status in life refuse to learn it.
This is America. Speak English.

Dude, "real Americans" believe in the free market. We don't need government making more silly regulations for small businesses. If the business pleases lots of people, it will succeed. If not, it will fail. And you don't have to patronize any business that you don't like, regardless of whether you have a sensible reason or not. THAT's the American way.

ehhh, ok, but you don't see a lot of Mexican businesses flooding in. You just seem scared that one day you'll walk into an office and hear people speaking a different language. I laugh.
Especially since you're probably the type of bigot who will walk into france and expect them to speak english.

Sounds VERY American to me. Nothin wrong with keeping up your native language to tap the niche market of your fellow expats, but if you're Ukrainian, and you want to sell tires to anyone other than Ukrainians, sorry---ya gotta speak English.
Oh yeah, and all those French bigots expect people who come to France to speak French. What haters *they* are.

Yes ! Good Idea!! After all, we DO speak English in this country. Why force all of us to learn Spanish, Korean, Viet Namese, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, and a hundred other languages?
