Ok, I like to drink wine, but never get the taste of that "beautiful mineral." More typical descriptions of wine taste: "blackberry, loam, mineral and dark chocolate flavors," "Spicy, Mineral, Woody, Floral, Herbal, " etc, etc. What on earth is the taste of "mineral" taste like? Please give a detailed description with examples :) Many thanks!!!!

From the information you gave in your question it sounds like you drink a lot of red wines because they tend to exhibit the blackberry and chocolate tastes. The mineral taste tends to be found more in whites, specifically Rieslings, some Sauvignon Blancs, Vidal (sometimes) and occasionally Gewurztraminers. This is all dependant on the style that the winemakers chooses to use but if you try some white wines you'll probably find that "mineral" taste. It's not an easy taste to explain because the equivalent to it is basically checking on a rock which not many people will do. If you buy your wine in a wine shop than my best suggestion is to ask the person in the shop for a white wine that has mineral characteristics. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Alternatively, make a trip to a winery and ask them. They'll be able to pour you something from their line of products that exhibits it so you learn from tasting the wine rather than buying a whole bottle and discovering you don't like the "mineral" taste.

Well, if you haven't been to a spring or anything close, its hard to feel the mineral of the wine..

Basically, you'd get that grassy-natural-spring nose and mainly in Sauvignon Blancs.

Your best bet to try the "mineral" taste you speak of is in a Riesling from Alsace. They have lots of mineral notes as well as a slightly "stoney" taste.
