The question needs a little refinement. Anglican/Episcopalian priests are allowed to be married. Roman Catholic priests are historically not given that right. Some exceptions exist in areas void of celibrate priests. I believe a person entering into the priesthood married can in exceptional circumstances retain that status.

Catholic priests are not , but there are some sects of catholicism that are beconimg more lenient regarding that- but for the most part, Roman catholic priests are not t obe married. As far as I know , there is no other Christian denomination that disallows marriage. Most pastors and ministers I know are married and have children. It is not scripturally wrong to do so .

Notice how the Catholics assume they are true Christians!
Reality in the Bible said this: 1 Timothey;3:1 etc:
That this statement is faithful.
If any man is reaching out for an overseer, he is desirous of a fine works. 2 The overseer should therefore be irreprensible, A HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, moderate in habit, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, not a drunken brawler, not a smiter, BUT reasonable, not bellerigenent, not a lover of money.....HERE IS THE CLENCHER........................................................A Man Presiding over His Own Household in a fine manner, having CHILDREN in subjection with all seriousness. If indeed a Man Does Not Know How To Preside Over His Own Household How Will He Take Care Of God's Congregation?
So, A man Must be having a family to understand the needs of a HUMAN Family ( congregation) in order to judge with sympathy and Knowledge! I came from Saint Patricks Parish in Stoneham Massachusetts, That means ( Father Shanley and Father White) So for all those Catholics out there...Take 5 minutes and read the Bible for once! I was raised Catholic, by the Sisters of Providence, In Stoneham Massachusetts At Saint Patricks Parish! really, Truly, Shanleys starting Parish!!!!!
I have read the Bible, and PLEASE READ 1TIMOTHY, If other folks had taken it to heart that MONSTER and Fr. White, and Fr. Ernest Hill all from Stoneham Mass. Could not have done so much damage. A Husband Of One Wife...Said Timothey...Hmmmm? Think carefully! If any one also has info on Father Ernest Hill. S.S.T. East Coast of the U.S., New Hampshire last known sexual assult area, Let Me Know He Has To Be Stopped!!! Family lives on Collincote St. Stoneham,
Grafton, is that family name, He was Orrigionally known as Justin Hill before Priesthood, He Has Neixces and nephews wich have to be watched, Justine Graftin, Joey Graftin, there is an older Brother with Sexual Predatory tendencys. The name escapes me now! Warning the sexual preator gene runs strong through out the family, Stoneham Massachusetts
Spell check is not working again, truth does not get misspelled!

There is no scriptural context in the bible which supports forbidding priest to marry. In fact, it says quite the opposite to be aware of those who forbid people to marry. However, Jesus said not everyone can accept the message concerning marriage, but whoever can accept it. But God gives every person that is able the option to marry. The apostle Paul said he had the right to take a believeing wife, eventhough he chose not to marry for the gospel's sake. But religious establishments do not of themselves have the right to take away anybody's right to marriage.

Jesus said to call no man father - and of that he was talking spiritual father, because we have only one Father who is God.
Non of the disciples nor the Apostles were ever forbidden to marry. The forbidding to marry was dreamed up by the Roman Catholic Church and is in no way remotely Biblical
The Apostle Paul said he would rather all men were as he was (unmarried / celibate) but did not forbid to marry, and in fact said if a man could not contain himself it would be better to marry lest the man fall into temptation.

Depends on which form of Christianity you are talking about. In the Eastern Orthodox Christian faith, priests can be married and have families (though they are not obliged to). In other forms of Christianity (for example, Roman Catholic) they are not allowed to.

well peter was married and there is no comand not to.(1 Corinthians 7:36-38) 36Â But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virginity, if that is past the bloom of youth, and this is the way it should take place, let him do what he wants; he does not sin. Let them marry. 37Â But if anyone stands settled in his heart, having no necessity, but has authority over his own will and has made this decision in his own heart, to keep his own virginity, he will do well. 38Â Consequently he also that gives his virginity in marriage does well, but he that does not give it in marriage will do better.
(Matthew 8:14) 14Â And Jesus, on coming into Peter’s house, saw his mother-in-law lying down and sick with fever.
