Most high protein foods such as eggs, beef, chicken & fish have only trace amounts of carbohydrate. All other foods such as breads, cereals, fruit, candy, nuts, and most vegetables, (except things like lettuce, cabbage, celery, onions etc have almost zero carbs) have high amounts of carbohydrate. There are also carbs that may be, say 25 grams of carbs, but only count as maybe 4 or 5 grams because of their composition and the way the body absorbs them. An example of this can be found in protein bars such as Protein Plus bars. The label might read ONLY 4 impact grams per bar. Even though the label may say 28 grams. If your thinking of going on a low carb diet, keep in mind the human body requires about 60 to 100 grams a day minimum for brain and hormone functions. It's better to eat smaller portions spaced about every three to four hours apart to keep your appetite in check. With a steady supply of nutrients your body doesn't need to store extra calories.
