Does not it say, somewhere, in the bible that you should respect your fellow man or something along those lines? Correct me if I am wrong...I do not mind corrections...life is very much a learning curve. I am tired of all the people posting and challenging Atheists, asking them to recognize god or why the don't see the "truth." The truth is different for everyone. Can not we just be tolerant people, and let people live their own lives, without forcing our beliefs upon them...without backing people into a metaphorical corener just so they relent! Christianity is not suppossed to be scared or forced into people. Whatever religion is right for that person...let it be. It is more than okay to inform...but not to conform.

You are wrong, the bible says that God is no respecter of persons and that we are to be as like God as possible for humans to be. God orders us to go out and spread the good news so Christians really don't have a choice but to tell atheists about God at any opportunity. No one is forcing anyone, that's not God's plan. But we are required to do our best to bring you around. If you feel backed in a corner then maybe guilt is making you feel uncomfortable. CONFORM is exactly what God requires. It's also called Obedience.

The Bible does teach respect and it does teach tollerance to the degree that we should love our neighbor. But it does not teach that we should accept or condone what is wrong or untrueThe Bible says there is only One True God and Jesus said I Am the Way the Truth and the Life no man comes to the Father but by Me.
Truth by its very nature is intollerant. It is always the oppisite of error and intollerant of it.
Further more there are absolute truths in this world and regardless of any ones opinion these truths stand on there own and are not subject to anyone.
for example the law of gavity is an absolute truth regardless of what you believe if you jump off a building you will fall towards the earth regardless of what you make think otherwise. is it wrong for me to tell you that you will fall if you jump? even if you believe that you wont fall?
P.S. if you wuold like for me to give you some very compelling evidence as to why we think that the Bible is true email me

the 20st : two WWs killing tens of millions + Rwanda massacres + Bosnia massacres + Vietnam + ....
19th : Occupation of almost all the world and enslaving hundreds of millions and killing tens of millions,
18th + 17 th : the conquest of America : millions dead and millions enslaved from africa .
16th and 15th : Spanish conquest and the famous spanish inquisitions ...
14th + 13th : Catholic vs Protestants ( the french used to sell body parts of protestants in the Market )..
12th and 11th : the Crussades : Whenever the crussaders enterd a city they didn't let a living soul (jerusalem is the most famous one) ...
....
You know what's most scary : they always find a good cause to do it !!! and they still do.

Yes, it does in the teachings of Jesus in the four synoptic gospels. Paul, who wrote most of the rest of the New Testament, is intolerant towards women, Jews, and other groups.

The Old Testament is rife with ethnocentrism by Jews towards the non-Jews of the land of Canaan, including a full-fledged holocaust against the native Canaanites.

I agree 100%. However, some people feel that God tells them it is there duty to convert everyone. I truly wish more people were as thoughtful as you. But I don't think there will be any changes any time soon, not until people learn to respect one another and their choices.

You may be thinking of when Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That sounds kind of like live and let live. But if you think about it a little more deeply, you realize He is saying, "Tell your brothers the the Gospel." Then they can choose what ever they want to do with it.

How would I want someone to "do" unto me? I would want them to be honest. Not just tell me something that might make me feel affirmed but not really do me any good.

According to Jesus we are to love each other, and try to get along with everyone. Although we aren't allowed to socialize with sinners, to prevent being tempting into a sinful life. Jesus also told His disciples to go into a city and preach and if they weren't welcome to leave and wipe the dust off their shoes. In other words, try to talk about God, but don't force it on them, all we can do is try to plant the seed where it falls depends upon the listener.

In some areas, yes.

In other places, god commands people to slaughter the entire city, including women, children, and animals.
