You could say,

Heavenly Father, thank you for this food, and for good health so we can appreciate this food. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Cordially,
John

If you can't say grace without it being a joke or without you really appreciating the food that you have before you, then think of this next time: people in Africa may eat in a month what you eat in one meal. So how thankful are you that you actually have 3 squares a day? If you are, it shouldn't be much of a problem to simply say "Thank you Lord for the bountiful food you have provided me today".

I find it strange that so many seek out the advice of others, and yet never ask God what He wants.

Deuteronomy 8:10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.

It is tradition to say a blessing before the meal, but its funny that actually what God wants is a blessing to Him after the meal.
But to each their own, people do what they want, not usually what God wants.

One of the best prayers that you can say, both as "grace" before a meal, as well as at other times (like before you go to bed at night) is the prayer that Jesus taught His followers to say: the Lord's prayer. It goes:

Our Father, Who art in the heavens,
Hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth as it is in the heavens.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.

In terms of grace before a meal, you can also follow this with: "Lord Jesus Christ, bless the food and drink of your servants, for you are blessed now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen."

May God be with you!

Keep reading the bible!

You will soon notice that there are a lot of man made traditions that aren't even in the bible,

However in answer to your question:

Read Matthew 14:19 and see what revelation you are given.

Thank God for all his blessings, especially for providing food, His Word, and Jesus Christ.
Remember practice makes perfect. When I first started praying outloud, I stuttered like crazy and didn't have much to say. After a few times I relaxed and even enjoyed it.

Saying what your heart says is best. Many times at a mixed faith family gathering, I simply thank God for Food and Family. If y ou like the corn soufle, mention that. If it's leftovers, tell God you wish there were a few less green beans.

Bless Us Oh Lord
And these Thy Gifts
We Are About to Receive
From Thy Bounty,
Through Christ Our Lord,
Amen

Short, simple, and Catholic

Just tell God thank you for the food you are allowed to eat, in Jesus' name. To say grace is to give thanksgiving to God. You can say grace other things you are blessed with.
Just keep in mind that we don't say grace for foods that we are not to eat. For example: pork, lobster, shrimp, catfish, and other scavengers.
Mat 15:36 "And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake [them], and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude."

Saying "Grace" is a tradition... it isn't in the Bible nor is it a requirement... but it is respectful... you are just acknowledging that God provided for your needs and you are just thanking him for providing for you.

You should say what ever is in ur heart. Giving thanks to god for letting u live to see another day, for your health, for your family, friends, for everything he has done for you. For given you food to eat, ect.... Theres a lot of things to be graceful about to God because he is wonderful and caring.
