For the most part beg is right....

I worked with a Marine for while....

In a job such as Recon you are looking at getting deployed a lot. If you dont get deployed you are looking at spending over 200 days a yr in the field training...

Its def not the job if you plan on keeping a family together..

Its up to you though. If you want that job go for it but dont plan on being the family man....

There is not enough room on this site to explain 10% !!
You wanna be a Recon Ranger ?
Jump from aircraft ?
Do Buoyant ascents from submerged submarines ?
Climb mountains ?
Swim rivers with 100 lbs of gear ?
See and not be seen ?
Hear and not be heard ?
Run until your legs turn to jelly ?
learn to eat what you can scrape off the bottom of a rock ?
Be deployed or in the field 200-300 days a yr ?

You don't pick them , they pick you !
GOOD LUCK and BLESS you !

Marines don't spend a lot of time with the Navy
A lot of reserve training:

Wake, run, work out, run, eat, work out, run, sleep

That's what my ex-co-worker-gone-marine wrote me last about
