It's Three Kings' Day! My family celebrated it by using blessed chalk to write the initials of the three kings above our entryways. It's supposed to bring blessings and good fortune to all who enter your home.
I always liked singing the hymn "We Three Kings" at mass. I love the slow melody....
And January 6th is just two days after my sister's birthday. She's 13 years younger than me (which I don't consider to be unlucky at all. :)

January 6th is the Feast Day of Holy Theophany - the celebration of Jesus Christ's baptism in the Jordan River by St. John the Baptist. The reason it is called Holy Theophany, is that it was the first occasion on which the Holy Trinity was revealed to mankind ("Theo" is from the Greek word for God, and the "phany" part comes from the Greek word for "showing forth"). The Holy Trinity was revealed when Jesus was baptized, through the voice of the Father saying that Christ was His beloved Son, and through the appearance of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, which rested upon Christ upon His emerging from the waters of baptism.
It is one of the holiest days of the Christian year, and in ancient times it was celebrated as being even more holy than Christmas. When we speak of the 12 days of Christmas, it is because if you count from Christmas Day to the Day of Holy Theophany, it is 12 days during which time all Christians would celebrate.

The Eve before the Feast of the Nativity of Christ. A quiet Church at midnight. The smell of frankincense, candle wax and cold air. Fr Marko's beautiful and moving chanting of the Christmas hymns.
