Believing Is Having
by Kenneth Hagin

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
(John 6:47)
The same Greek word translated everlasting is also translated eternal. Here it's describing the God-kind of life, which never ends. In other words, Jesus was saying, "He that believeth on Me has the God-kind of life."

Notice the phrase: "He that believeth hath." You see, believing is having. That's the way you have whatever God has made available to you in His Word - by believing it. Believing is possessing.

Many times, people substitute mental assent, or mental agreement, for believing. They agree that the Bible is true and even admire the Word of God. They confess that every word of the Bible is true. But they don't possess anything, because they're just mentally agreeing to it. But real believing is possessing; it's having.

Someone once said, "Believing ends in the glad confession, 'It's mine. I have it now.'"

Remember, Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." He that believes has. Believing is having.

When you pray, believe that you receive it and you'll have it. When are you going to have what you desire? After you believe you receive it. Believing is having. If you believe you receive something, you're going to say, "It's mine. I have it now." You're saying that by faith.

Speak Life
by Larry Ollison, Ph.D.

What you say is important. In fact, the words that come from your mouth today shape your world tomorrow. Your words can bring prosperity and health or they can bring poverty and death. According to the Bible, the words you speak can and will shape your life.

Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."

It is true. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. What you say is important. In fact, what you say is so important that much of the Bible is devoted to teaching us what to say.

In the book of James in chapter 3, the Bible compares the tongue to the rudder of a large ship. Although a ship may be large and driven by fierce winds, it is turned by a very small rudder. This is the way the tongue is. It may be a small part of your body, but what you say with your mouth can enhance or destroy your life.

Most Christians have no idea how their words are affecting their lives. Words can either be words of faith - words that confirm the Word of God, or words of doubt - words that destroy faith. The choice is yours. Your mouth is connected to your head, not someone else's. You have no one to blame for what you say other than yourself. Think of it this way. Your life and your death are in the power of your tongue.

Jesus said in Mark 11:23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says."

Jesus said to say to the mountain, "be cast into the sea." He didn't say think to the mountain. He didn't say believe in your heart and that will be enough. He said to believe in your heart and say with your mouth and then you will see the mountain moved.

In Romans 10:9 the Bible says, "if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Notice it says that we are to confess Jesus with our mouth. It doesn't say to think in our minds. It says to confess with your mouth, in other words, say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.

Think of your words as containers. When they are released from your mouth, they contain faith or they contain doubt.

Proverbs 6:2 says we are snared by the words of our mouth. This simply means that you are responsible for your words. You have a choice. With your words you can curse and you can bless.

You may ask, "Then what should I say?" Speak words of faith. Speak words that align with the Word of God. Say, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Say, "Jesus is Lord and Satan is defeated." Say, "He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases." Quote the Word.

Remember Proverbs 18:21 says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."

Some people say they can't help what they say. That's not true. You can control your words. The choice is yours. Will you speak words of faith or will you speak words of doubt. Depending on what you say from your heart, you will receive either death or life. Speak life.

Things that are facts can't be changed just because someone says so. That's truth. However, that said, there are things you can change by saying so. Feelings and opinions (in other words, things that aren't facts at all) can be changed by determination. A friend once decided to like someone who was definitely hard to like. He started by finding one small thing about that person that he could actually tolerate. It worked. He got to understanding and liking that person after a few months. (Yes, months. Don't expect things to change overnight. Change requires patience and a good bit of time.)

One thing I've changed fairly quickly is my attitude. By smiling at people (for their benefit -- why should I dump my gloom on their day) when I didn't feel like it, I noticed after a short time that I did feel like smiling after all. Sometimes happiness is the source of your smile, other times your smile become the source of your happiness.

In the bigger picture yes. Everything has been spoken into existence. Your new kicks, for example, you said you were going to get them and you got them. So yes...you can speak something into existence, not saying that everything you speak will come into existence.

It's called the power of the spoken word and yes it will---be careful what you say for it will come back to you in kind, every time!

If you back your statements with emotion---they will manifest more rapidly---in kind.....

Take care

Er--I think not.
I can speak "2 + 2 = 5", but it will not come to pass.
I can speak "I am God" until eternity, yet I will never (fully) be God.

Nope...

Only the Christian God can speak something into existence.
