With the introduction of the revolutionary B787, A350 and/or A370, Do you think the 767 will be produced for long?

If they don't get new orders, production will end next year. The B787 is supposed to replace the B767. The only thing that will keep the 767 alive at this point is if Boeing wins the USAF tanker contract. Current proposal is for a 767 derivative, but if the Air Force delays too long, then Boeing will propose to base the tanker on an aircraft other than the 767. It would be too expensive to restart a production line after it has closed and all the tools have been mothballed and the workforce released.

I was told by a Boing employee last week that they have already discontinued production of the 757 and the continued production of the 767 is dependent upon a military contract for a new heavy refueling tanker. I guess Boing has been doing flight testing with the 767 as a tanker for some time and are still waiting a final answer from the US Govt. on a contract.

I love that airplane, but they are ending it's production soon, along with the 717. It will stop being made arou nd some time towards the end of next year.
It will definately be replaced by the 787.
