Well, coming from a girl, I know if I was asked out, I'd like a rose with a note attached asking me out. That'd be the most romantic and sweet thing from a guy.

No rose... Just ask her out. What's the worst that can happen. She might say no? If she says no she is saying that she would like better to not spend time with you rather than have a free dinner, a free movie, and a nice discussion. Who wants to date a girl like that anyways. She wouldn't be worth the investment for the evening. Ask her out. And if she says no, shrug it off.

Roses are silly. They're not meant for first dates, they're meant for valentines day.
Dont' get her anything. The date is it's own reward.
Choose something you like to do (like going to see a band that you like) and ask her to go with you. If she likes the band then seeing them is your "gift" to her. Also, at the very least, if the date sucks, you still got to see a band that you like, so the night's not a total waste.
This is good advice. It'll cary you through many years without needing much tweaking.

it depends on what kind of girls she is.
if she's real "deep" and reads a lot and is kind of shy, then, yes get her a rose.
but if she is sort of superficial and she looks in the mirror a hundred times a day and has to wear the best outfit whereever she goes, then don't get her a rose. she would look at a rose as a sign of weakness on your part.
she would be much more difficult to approach and i would suggest you try to find out something about her first, like what she's into. then use that info to invite her out to do something.

the thing is does she like you? because you would want to know if she likes you before you buy the rose ask her out and i find out what the answer is. or you could buy the rose ask her out and pray that she says yes.

I didn't give my gf anything when i asked her out, i never thought of it, but a rose is a very thoughtful idea. If u know she'll say yes I'd do it. Otherwise it could be weird if she says no. Good luck.

I would ask her out and if she said yes, then bring flowers for her on the first date. its a little akward for the both of you if she said "no" and you had a rose, would she keep it or would you?

Don't get her anything. Asking someone out for the first time does not require a gift. In fact, it could really backfire because it makes you look clingy and desperate. Nothing screams "STALKER" like a guy who is overzealous to buy too many gifts in the beginning.
