You place the old coffee in the trash and get the new coffee.

You really cannot freshen old coffee. Remember that coffee lasts only a few weeks after grinding when improperly stored. You really need an air tight glass (preferred) container. Even when stored properly, ground coffee does not last long. The longer the grinds are exposed to air, the worse your coffee will taste.

first thing if its the grounds that are stale ( old coffee) then you should always put the bags in the freezer until you are ready to use it if the coffee is bitter when you brew it first thing is to clean your coffee pot really good ( use a sponge and clean up under the part where the filter goes and the water drips out) and then make sure you are using enough coffee! most ppl think that more grounds make the coffee bitter but really its less! the less grounds you use the more of the bitter oils are released into the water so use plenty of coffee! if its too strong caffiene wise then mix your grounds half and half reg and decaf hope this helps!

You cannot do that! It is against all the rules! Throw it out. Make you a great big pot of fresh strong coffee ! Of course it tastes nasty if you try to rebrew it. Only do that if it is neccesary for survival.

Regrinding will extend the life of it for about a week. It will also bring out the fresh flavor. After that buy a new pack/can. Remember also, that the product you buy, might not always be pure coffee beans. It might be mixed with cherries and other fillers. Those fillers decrease the freshness of it over time.

if you are talking about "how to freshen old coffee grounds" then just put it in the freezer for a day.

but if you are talking about refreshening coffee that has already been made, then try adding some little sugar.

Good Luck

don't drink old coffee, the rancid oils can cause digestive problems; instead:
~buy new coffee (whole and organic is the best)
~keep it in the freezer in an airtight/freezer safe container
~grind it fresh before each pot

If the coffee gets cold, I hurl it out.

reheating it makes it nasty beyond belief.

it has probably gone rancid. coffee has a lot of oils in it - once it's gone bad there is nothing you can do but throw it out. sorry.
