i mean by 3 sets of 10 repitions.

When there is 3 sets and 10 reps in each set it means that You lift the weight 10 times and a set is when you have lifted this many repititions with a break in between each set

A repetition is each lift of the weight. So if you do 3 sets of 10, you'd lift it 30 times total....

repition isn't a word. Wightlifting is not one either.

maybe you are working out the wrong muscle?

Each time you make a complete motion during the excersize that's considered a repitiion.
