Not sure if its a mortal sin (as opposed to veniel) but there are prohibitions against that and tattooing (Leviticus 19:28) in the Books of Moses.
One thing that did allow piercing was to pierce the ear of a slave (Exodus 21:6) with an awl, indicating he would be kept as a slave forever.
Sin or not? Not sure. But it does seem better to just pass on all of it to be on the safe side.

u dont go 2 hell for that although it is a sin of a lesser degree. u know why there is a restriction on tattooing, body painting and body peircing in islam?.
thats, coz god does not want his people to suffer the pain. do u know most of those people lie saying that there r no harmful chemicals during tattooing and body art. but infact they lie. some of those body paints they use even cause allergies and rashes for days.
y would u take so much pain to satisfy others . people will love the person who is beneath the skin, dont u think so?
and also the needles they use sometimes are not strilised. so risk of catching a disease.
and as far as circumcission is concerned, i think many know why they do it.

Depends on what you pierce it with. If you pierce your body, head with a bullet or sword or a knife. Then it is probably going to be a sin. Other wise your telling people your temple has been sold for advertising.

Never cut your bodies in mourning for the dead or mark your skin with tattoos for I am the Lord.

If piercing your body is a sin (because it is vanity or altering the natural form of the body) Then so is shaving, cutting your hair, cutting your fingernails, having a circumcision, or causing a circumcision to be performed.

I don't think it is. After all some people have that bumper sticker that says" A piercing saved my life" that shows Jesus hanging from a Cross.

yes it is, the bible considers it a vain act, and defiling your own person, but if defiling your own person is okay wit you, God forgives.
