It is natural for your dog to shed. It is not possible to stop shedding. Proper brushing will reduce the shedding. You need a slicker brush and a comb. Brush once a day. That is all you can do.

No matter what you do or what kind of dog you get every dog is going to shed. Even short hairs. In the winter their coat thickens to keep them warm. In the spring and summer the shed the excess fur to keep cool. Giving the dog a bath maybe once a week might help to wash away some of the hair. But mainly you need to buy a fine toothed dog brush and brush your dogs hair every day. Here's a helpful hint. What I have noticed with my experience with dogs is that most of the hair being shed is the bottom layer of hair. So in stead of brushing in the direction of the hair growth try brushing the opposite way the hair is growing. Hope I helped.

You can't stop a shedding dog from shedding. You can however cut down the amount several ways. Too much shedding can be a sign that the dog is not getting proper nutrition. Make sure you are feeding him/her a good quality non corn based kibble. A change in diet can cut down on shedding. If you are feeding him cheapo dog food....that will contribute to the amount of shedding. It's normal for most dogs to shed with the exception of a few breeds like poodles, shihtzu, Lhasa Apso, Schnauzers and such.
another things you can do is brush your dog. Chihuahua's are a short haired dog. You can accomplish alot with a small softer stiff bristled dog brush. Shedding is the dead hair undercoat. Brushing will hell remove alot of that dead hair.

Exessive shedding can mean mal-nutrition. Is she eating her dog food everyday? Is it a reliable brand? Does she have any past health conditions?
You could also try lightly brushing her daily if you aren't already, your vet may be able to suggest some different natural oils that can reduce the amount of shedding.
Call your vet and ask for some advice, thats always the best place to start when dealing with an animal.

As often as you can (I suggest every day) take her outside and brush her hair to get all of the loose hair off. I even heard of this special brush on TV, I forget what it is called, but it is specifically made for shedding dogs. Good luck!

Its ok for a dog to shed its natural most dog shed between summer and fall because the season changes so their fur grows thicker for the winter so they dont get cold like we have to wear sweaters.

It's all merely a matter of personal preference. We have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a man with short hair over a guy with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look too girly.
