People stop taking medications for many reasons. A common reason is side effects. You cannot say that stopping the medicine is a direct CAUSE of his suicide. It may have contributed, however.
His death may or may not have been related to his anxiety. However, depression and anxiety are commonly seen together.

Depression and Anxiety can lead to suicide if not treated sooner
than later and one reason is it takes awhile to find the right combination of medications. Once you have it under control with
meds it is still always a possibility but going off the meds doesn't
help and will only increase that chance again. It is probably a
combination of things. My aunt and uncle(brother and sister)
on my dad's side of the family both have commited suicide. One
never got help and we missed the warning signs. He was 18.
My Aunt was 40 and she had been on medication and was
receiving counseling for about 6 months, she was married. My
brother has battled depression and anxiety since he was 10 and
was in a children's psych hospital when he was about 12 on
suicide watch. My great aunt(my deceased aunt's aunt) also is
now on psych meds and anti-depressents and anxiety meds.
I think that side of the family has a chemical inbalance because
of all this, so I can't say that going off the meds would have done
it or not because like I said my aunt was on meds at the time.
I think meds help but they can only do so much. The will to live has to be there also.

I am sorry for your loss. I agree with the others that say it is a high possiblity. I have lost a few friends do to this type of thing myself. We have a disease that is a major shock to the system and can cause depression and anxiety. I am currently on 2 diffrent meds for these problems and the 2 times I have went off I have contemplated suicide. The only thing I can sugest is if anyone is on them and decides to go off, see your doctor and they should be able to help you go off slowly. As for you, I would suggest you see a professional if you have trouble coping with your friends death and the reasons around it. It is tue that there were probably reasons behind the meds that he didnt deal with and possibly thought he had put behind him. Also from my experience I was just having depression problems when I was put on the meds; but when I went off them (thinking I was over my problems) I started having bad anxiety attacks and panic attacks on top of the depression. hope this helps.

First of all, sorry to hear about your friend.
I doubt it. Judging from what you said, he probably had some other issues and felt that the only way to solve it was to kill himself (and cause more problems in the process, to his family, friends, etc). And as far as I know, there haven't been many cases of something like that happening (unless you were taking anti-biotics, but in that case it wouldn't be suicide, it would be the bacteria in your body killing you).
Again, it sounds like your friend probably had deeper problems, and the medicine wasn't really helping him, it just masked the situation from his friends and family.

I'm so sorry for you loss. That must be very hard on you. Yes, stopping that kind of medication suddenly causes suicidal thoughts and, if his dosage was high enough, could have caused him to act on these thoughts.
Again, I'm so sorry for this.

Depends on which meds he was on. Some do create severe withdrawal effects and can push someone over the edge. Paxil is one that's scary.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. My prayers and sympathy to all his family and friends.
I would have to say yes. Discontinuing his medications probably caused him to do what he did. His medication was controling his anxiety. If that medication was no longer there, there was nothing there to protect him.
