How do I put myself on hold and for an hour or so and just live those minutes without worrying about bills, family, health, etc.

You have to teach yourself to relax. There are several ways.

One is called progressive relaxation. Lay on the bed, no light, only soft music in the back ground. Close your eyes and thinks of your breathing. Don't let yourself think of anything else except breathing. Start at the top of your head and slowly work to your toes, thinking of that part of your body meling into the bed like ice cream. Slowly, concentrating on your breathing the entire time.

If you find yourself thinking about bills, etc., go back to thinking about breathing. This is a yoga style way of relaxing.

Once you have gone to your toes, now in your mind think of a quiet relaxing place where you are happy, alone and relaxed. This could be anything from the beach to the mountains to laying in a hammock in the backyard. Remember that breathing.

If you start to feel a tingling in your body, that is good. Make that tingle move all over your body.

Another way is to take a very hot bath or shower before you do the relaxation above.

Good luck

Just shut your self in a room, or visit a spa (yes, men do visit spas) and just relax, think of being in a resort or anything that you like doing. Just find time to yourself...trust me that little time can help with lots of stressful things. DO a hobby...maybe you play sports, write, etc...Do something that interests you? If your health isn't so good so you can't do alot, hopefully you can still take a little walk and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Hang out with your old friends, talk on the phone - just about anything nothing dealing with business or whatever. Hope this helps!!!

Try reading up on meditation. There are some great meditation techniques that will not only help you relax, but also help with some medical problems. I have not had a headache since I started 2 years ago. Reduces stress. It only takes about 20 minutes a day.

A lot of people I know claim this can be achieved through meditation. I have never been able to do it, but they are definitely some of the calmer, more centered people I know. They have books and videos at the library that may be helpful to you. It is worth a shot.

Prayer and or Meditation are pretty popular. You can buy a c.d. or just use a mantra, that is to say you focus on one word like God for example and just continuously exit out all else that comes to mind! Empty your mind and rid it of b.s basically.

Do you read? I find getting sucked into a book, we're talking an easy read, kills hours and takes away the rest of the world for a while.

You might try hypnosis, there are several different programs (on CD) that you can get. I like Tony Robbins, he has some really relaxing Cd's that offer subliminal messages and work on your problems at a subconscious level. :) good luck!

Allow yourself to do so. Tell yourself that you will worry about it againg 60 minutes later, but now it's your time off. Do whatever you please! The world will not change much in 60 minutes.

Imagine, you are in heaven. Don't think about anything. Think about good. Think of a paradise, think of a time or place you love to relax.
