3 people rent a motel room, the charge is 30 dollars. Each person pays 10 dollars. later the manager came to the room, and told them there was a manager special, and the room was only 25 dollars. So he gave them 5 dollars back, to be fair each person took 1 dollar, and gave the manager 2 dollars for a tip. So therefore it equaled out that each person paid 9 dollars for the room, and they gave the manager 2 dollars, 3X9=27 for the room plus the 2 dollars given to the manager equals a total of 29 dollars.

Where did the other dollar go?

I think it's because the remainder of dividing the difference of 25
and 30 is 5 divided by 3. 1.66 is what they each should have had
returned. Now what?

1.66 X 3 is 1.98. They should have had that returned (each), but only
got 3 dollars among them.

Can you help? I think it stems from the difference between 25 and 30
and the difference between 27 and 30 but I just can't put it in words.

25 divided by 3 should have been based on the return amount.

They returned three dollars so do you have to take 25 plus 3, not
9 x 3? Is this just a play on words or is it really math?

why 9 dollars for the room the hotel only has 25

so they have 25 for the room 2 to the bellboy and 3 for the guests

25+2+3=30 ♥

1 ) X+Y+Z = 30
if room = 30

Now Room = 25
therefore x+y+z = 25

Therefore x+y+x get 5.
so is x+y+z= 30 - 25

If a get 2, x,y,z get 1
so is 2A+1x+1y+1z = 30 -25

Therefore 2+1+1+1=30-25
5 = 30-25

However each person did not really paid $9 for the hotel
because 25/3 = 8.3333
The maths error came from 0.3333.
If rightly so, by the second person payment is 16.667 ( 16.6666 )
then on the third payment from the thrid guy , it will add up to be
24.999

The other dollar is i the round up of firure to the second decimal or to full figure.

8.333 ( 9 ) ( this one, you owe me 0.6667 )
16.667 ( 18 ) ( On this, you owe me 1.3333
24.999 ( 27 ) ( On this is 2.001 )

The correct figure is
8.333 ( 8 )
16.667 ( 17 )
24.999 ( 25 )

The answer is that its all a part of miscalculation.
10+10+10=30
25+3+2=30

3x=25
x=8.333
(8.333*3)+3+2=30

it comes out, you are just doing your math wrong. Instead of figuring how much each paid you need to figure how much each paid for then add in the cash back and then the tip. It does come out.

If this doesnt suit you then the rest of the money went to hotel taxes.

25/3 does not round evenly to 25. Therefore, the other dollar got lost in your math error.

$30 - 5 = 25 5-3=2

The room cost $25.
Guy one has $1.
Guy two has $1.
Guy three has $1.
Manger has a tip of $2.

Total: $30 paid.
