Because Paul began preaching doctrine that appealed to pagans. Which was totally contradictory to what Jesus & his disciples taught.
And that is what Constantine adopted as the basis for his brand new Universal Religion.

That was actually settled by the original Apostles. You can read the account in Acts 15.
Basically, there were many Gentiles embracing faith in Christ Jesus, and some of the Jewish believers weren't comfortable with that! So a teaching began to circulate, that all believers had to be circumcised (become Jewish proselytes) in order to accept salvation through Christ. Paul and Barnabas happened to be in Antioch (their home base) when this teaching hit town, and found themselves at the center of the arguement!
Eventually this led to the first Jerusalem Council, where the Apostles (all Jews, btw!) decided which laws were binding on all believers, regardless of their birth. Their concensus was that Jewish dietary and custom laws did NOT apply to Gentiles, but that the moral law would (since it involved sin). Hence Gentiles can eat fried clams and ham for Christmas, where a good orthodox Jewish Christian will simply have roast lamb with mint jelly. (Both are delicious, btw.)
Jewish Christians are certainly free to practice the customs of their heritage, including the dietary practices, taboos on tatoos, circumcision, etc.
I'm not so sure about the sabbath question. I would certainly love to take an entire day out of my week, to have no housework! Perhaps we should petition Rome to reinstall mandatory Sabbath days for all believers.......Just a thought.

You are correct when you say that Jesus was a Jew - according to his human nature. However you have missed the point of His incarnation and life in this world, which is more than an ordinary human life. Jesus Christ is fully man and fully God. And as such, He did not come to live among men in order to teach or preach a religion, and He did not come to give laws. All those things had been done already by the Prophets that He sent into the world before Him in order to prepare the world - Jews first, and the nations (Gentiles) as well - for His coming.
So if He did not come to preach the Jewish religion or to give laws or any of those things, why did He come? His Incarnation itself was the fulfillment of the "mystery hidden before the ages" - God's union with His creation in the Person of the God-man Jesus Christ. He came to manifest the personal relationship between God and man, and to save fallen mankind from our mortal enemies - the passions, sin and death, and the power of the devil which is the fear of death.
The Mosaic Law you refer to was given as a pre-cursor and a type of its later fulfillment, which is Grace in Christ Jesus - the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that allows a man to become Christ-like, and therefore God-like.

Jesus become no longer a Rabbi. back then we did no longer have ordained Rabbis the way we do now. The note meant purely 'instructor' and there have been dissimilar youthful Jewish preachers who were addressed as 'rabbi'. also, to astonishing you: the Romans crucified thousands of Jews, each day they were killing them. you may also have an interest to maintain in mind that there have been numerous Jewish adult men who were far extra effective qualfied as Jewish messiah than Jesus, they too were crucified with the aid of the Romans. and prefer Jesus, they did not fulfill the prophecies previously demise, so as that they weren't embraced as 'messiah' both. Jesus become killed because he turned right into a political agitator and he claimed to be 'the perfect guy contained in the Roman empire'. No way become he going to be allowed to flee with that. EDIT i particularly might want to astonishing a number of the mad solutions given. Jesus DID practice and carry forth hardship-free Judaism. certain, he ought to have sought to reform particular aspects of the religion, yet do no longer ignore that there have been numerous fringe moves interior Judaism on the instantaneous - all of whom were Jewish at the same time as providing diverse interpretations of the scriptures etc. None of them were ever condemned because for one component, in Judaism we WELCOME debate and we are no longer and under no circumstances were threatened with the aid of it. Jesus become killed with the aid of the Romans an same way thousands of Jews were. no longer some thing unique, no longer some thing particular, no longer some thing mysterious.

Jesus observed the law of Moses. He went further in two ways. He said that the spirit of the law was more important than rigid observance. It was better to do good on the Sabbath than follow a ritual code. Second he made the law tougher because we are judged not just on actions, but our thoughts as well.
Jesus named Peter to be the leader of the Apostles. As the head of the church he had the authority to receive revelation. Peter through a series of visions was told that kosher laws were unnecessary. He taught that circumcision was no longer required. The day to observe the sabbath was changed to Sunday in commemoration of the resurrection. Peter did not abolish any moral laws, only ritual laws.
Modern Judaism does not follow all the rules of the Torah. They no longer sacrifice animals. They don't stone people. They don't marry the childless wife of a dead brother. They made these changes over a period of time based on the teaching of noted rabbis.

Because christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah the Jews were looking for. And if you read the Gospels and the Book of Romans you will find that when the Gentiles were allowed into the commune of Jews who believed in Jesus they were not required to keep the traditional Jewish customs. The Gentiles to this day have the uniqueness of being saved by the Grace of God through the atonemnet of their sins by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the Jews are still the chosen people of God, and when the amount of Gentiles that is set by God come to believe in Him, that is when the rapture of the church will take place.God will personally destroy all of Israel's enemies and they will reign for a thousand years. This is the mystery that most people do not know . That God knew in His foreknowledge that most of Israel would reject Him as the Messiah and this would bring about the preaching of the Gospel throughout the World!

You must be born a Jew. Jesus came to save the Jews from what they have been suffering for the last 1900 years-they rejected Him. Jesus chose Paul to go to the gentiles (non-Jews) and invite them to trust Jesus. Those who do this, do not become Jews. They become Christians-Jewish law is not for them. You are confusing Jesus' ministry before His death to that after his death-they are different.

Go away - I dislike people who ae passionate about religion as they are dangerous if not kicked up the **** now and then just to let them know they are living in a free country which is good enough to put up with their rantings.
