Joshua10:13 The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn't this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of the sky, and didn't hurry to go down about a whole day.

I am quite aware that the Earth rotates. As to God stopping time, it clearly states he stopped the Sun to let Joshua win his battle, think about it. Why would the creator of the universe stop the sun to help some itinerent sheep herders massacre an indeginous population trying to defend it self? Sounds like something out of Mein Kampf.

Well, near the equator, the earth's rotational velocity is around 1,000 miles per hour. In Joshua 10:12, god commands the sun to stand still. Since we all know that it is not the sun that is moving, and that the apparent movement of the sun is due to the earth's rotation, that means that god must have abruptly stopped the earth's rotation. When that happend, Joshua and all of his happy little army would have suddenly found themselves bouncing along over the surface of the earth at about 950 miles per hour, until they slammed into the nearest object. (History's worst case of 'road rash', ever.) All structures would have disintigrated, and their component parts turn into deadly missiles. All vegetation would have been uprooted. Everything would have become a deadly missile. All of the waters of the earth would have been flung up from their containments and flooded the earth. It is very unlikely that a single creature living on the surface of the earth would have survived.
In other words... never happened.

The universe runs on a set of physical laws. These, unlike some laws, were not made to be broken. Simply stated, the earth did not temporarily stop rotating on its axis.
This story is a fictional account of a battle that may or may not have actually happened. Enjoy it as such.

the solar system would fall out of orbit, and the earth wouldnt have something to rotate around.
the sun would be sucked into a black hole it has been trying to escape for millenia.
earth would gain enough force to attain escape velocity, and fall out of orbit, into space
anyone who says the sun would stop must be stupid because the sun moves faster than the earth, which itself moves at 100,000 kilometers/hour.
the sun orbits the center of our solar system (milky way) along with millions of other stars
to slow the sun down from, let us assume 1,2million miles per hour to 0mph , would require billions and trillions of nuclear bombs, which would completely rip our solar system to smithereens and throw all the planets including earth into blank space.
getting the sun to start moving again, after a halt, is impossible, if you want to realign it back into its orbit
whoever wrote that book, didnt consider that humans in the future would actually go to the moon and discover that earth isnt flat
In other news, its not possible. because time doesnt exist except as a unit of measurement

The only way for the sun to stop would be for the earth to stop rotating. Everything would fly off into orbit if that happened, and the earth itself would be ripped apart.

As far as I know, we haven't figured out how to do that yet. The person who did figure out how to stop time for a day, or even slow it down, would become very very rich, very quickly. What wouldn't you pay, to have an extra day?
However, God can do any thing He pleases with His creation. He created the entire universe...stopping time on one planet for one day shouldn't be a really taxing project for Him...

Then you would have reserved yourself a space in the Bible!
P.S. There is no book of Jashar in the Bible, unless you were talking about something else

God created time.
God set out the measurement for it.
God stopped it for a bit.
Why is that hard to understand?

Well, nothing, because it's the earth that moves, not the sun.

It is in God's power to perform such a miracle (if he were to choose to do so), while preventing any negative consequences.
Cordially,
