So many Christians feel that they have an obligation to serve a God that is so far away is really does not know what any human is truly going through in life. Also as humans, none of us asked to be born or to be brought into creation. All that I hear from Christians is that I owe God a debt of gratitude and I should be happy about being alive. The world is a disaster, and I did not ask to be brought into it in the first place. It seems that if anything at all God owes me for putting me on this lousy earth, not the other way around.

First of all, I'm sorry if those are the only things Christians have had to say to you. I love God with all my heart, mind and soul but it isn't just because I feel obligated to. I don't feel forced into believing either. I am honored and feel blessed to be able to live a life of discipleship to my Lord. And you're wrong if you think God does nothing to help us. He does! Because of my faith in God, I have come through many horrible trials and tribulations in my life. I pray that you will get the experience to listen to someone who knows the true meaning and power of God and I pray your heart and mind will be open to hear what is truly a gift!

Yes in the Bible it says that some of us will have a very rough time on this Earth. Those that endure the hardships of this life will be even more excited of the other life than the rich men of this Earth. Also those that endure hardships throughout their existence on this Earth will get into Heaven easier than the rich.
What you must do is give up your logical scientific thinking for a little while and say , " OK there is just one person that loves me unconditionally. I'm going to let my defenses down and let him into my heart. "
The Christians are not happy about being alive. They are happy because they know they are going to a much better place than this lousy earth as you so perfectly put it.
I know life is tough and it sometimes seems hopeless. Try giving up your control and asking him to take over. You will find God and Jesus will make it more bearable. After awhile it will be a piece of cake.
Lastly, I wrote a contemporary christian song about just such a thought. It is called " Lord what can I do for you?"
Good luck brother I hope you read this.

My desire is to be with G-D for ever and find out the mystery of him, to walk and talk with him and see him create a new heaven and a new earth which he will, If you love somebody do you just feel obligation, no you feel the need to please that person. Jesus no's exactly how we feel he walked in our shoes, he experienced the same things we do today, he no's how hard being human is, because he was human for a short time, that is why he paid the price for our sins, he took responsibility for putting us on this earth and he died in our place and took on the sins of the world, So when you stand before G-D on judgment day Jesus will claim you as his own, you will have no sin to be judged. If you do not except Jesus as you Savior, you will be judged by the Ten Commandments. And if you have broken one commandment you have broken them all, infact you will be judging your self by the commandments. And G-D is not far away he can speak to your mind faster than a second. I am sorry you feel so bad about being on earth, I don't understand everything my self that is why I keep the faith, without faith you cannot please G-D. And G-D workes through us to help other people.

I have known a great many Christians who feel that way and in fact live the life of a missionary. I had very good friends in Tennessee who left to go to Guatemala to serve the Lord there. I currently have South African neighbors here in Oklahoma who are doing the same. These people feel called by God to do these things. And I respect that calling. It is a selfless and generous way to live one's life.

You suggested that God doesn't know about life here. In thinking that you have missed the whole point of Chrisitanity. God through Jesus knew life as we know it, experienced temptation and his own laws and through the crucifixation and resurrection redeemed all our lives with understanding and forgiveness.

I am no holy roller so please forgive the cheesy, preachy thing I got going here. The point is Christians have a good thing going on and understand that we should be thankful to God for our lives, our loves, and the wonder of this world.

I hope you will find some glimmer of hope that turns you from feelings of despair about the world.

Ultimately, the world is what man makes of it. God gave us life, free will, some maps, and a kiss for good luck. The rest is on our shoulders.

There are a lot of things wrong here on Earth, true. But let's face it...everything that's messed up, humans are responsible for it. Personally, I am grateful to be alive in spite of this. If I were never born, I wouldn't have any troubles. Then again, I wouldn't ever know love, joy, beauty... After all the things I've been through, I thank God that I'm still around to be writing this.

Christianity is a relationship with God through His son.
When you love someone you naturally want to talk about them.
It is not a case of I should be happy to be alive.
I am happy to be alive.
It is not a case of owing God a debt of gratitude one is in awe of Him and gratitude flows from within the very core of our being.
The world is a disaster through man's attitudes and bad choices.
We are on this earth as part of the angelic conflict.
Other than that we would not have been.
There is still a lot of beauty in the world and I choose to enjoy it.
Rahter than continually focus my attention on the disaster.
Have a good day .

God is not far away. Just because you haven't let him reveal himself to you, doesn't mean he's far away. I wouldn't spend my life in servitude to a God that did nothing for me, But God has done everything for me. True, you did not choose to be born, but you were. Can't really take that back, now, can you?
What God has done for me is saved me from sin. I am free and have peace because of this. I have a reason to live. Yea the world is messed up right now. People did that, not God. God made it perfect, but He gave people free will, and they walked away from Him. I would suggest reading the bible to get a better grip on why Christians are the way they are...if you want to really understand them.

Just because you feel God has not done anything for you! What makes you an expert on how others feel?
Maybe these people feel the need to help his children who are hungry, cold, scared, dying, blind, deaf, in prison! Because these people realize!

But, by the Grace of God go I.

Which of these ailments are you affected by?
If you would read the bible the first few chapters in Genesis you would realize God put his children in the Garden of Eden and the Devil showed us the door.
You sound like a bitter spoiled brat that has had everything handed to him and not had to work for anything. Yet he sees something he wants and God does not just put it under his daily Christmas Tree.
God is not your personal genie or a wishing well.
As far as life goes
You get what you put in!
Enjoy Hell!
Sorry I had to bash you but sometimes you have to use the nukes to save Lives. I promise I will put you in my prayers !
Believe = bee live

God provides me many things, why should I not be grateful to Him?

He allows me a good job that gives me a roof over my head and food on my table.

He protects me from harm.

He helps me when I am having a rough life.

When I pray to Him, he always answers me, in one way or another.

I've been asked this question many times, and I like to use this story:

A barber is cutting a man's hair. They talk about many subjects as he cuts, and one day, they get onto the subject of God and weather or not He exists. The barber says,

"I don't believe in God. How can a just, merciful God allow so much suffering in the world?"

The man thought. After the barber was done, the man paid, and then left the shop. He walked down the street and asked a homeless man with long, motted hair to follow him to the shop. When he gets there, he tells the barber:

"This man has long, unkept hair. Because there are people with long hair, barbers to not exist."

The barber, of course, promtply disagrees, saying:

"That is not a fair assessment. This man did not come to me, how can I be expected to help him?"

The man replies:

"Precisely! There is suffering in this world because people turn away from God, they reject Him, they don't go to Him, they don't pray. God cannot help those who refuse His help."

The barber was dumbstruck

First, it is about being selfless verse selfish! Your words are full of self interest and self concern. Very barbaric mind set...only the strongest survive. Yet, people that project this mentality usually cry FOUL when they are not the strongest and the world treats them selfishly.

Many young Americans are very self centered due to being spoiled and cratered to in their youth. They were taught that the world is a fair place, and that they should demand fairness.

Reality is life is not fair, yet each individual has a choice to be negative, critical, selfish and self centered, or to be positive, understanding, altruistic, and serve others in love.

Historical fact proves that altruism creates a happier person.
Jesus proved this as well.
