Do you feed him on a schedule or is he free fed? If he eats at a certain time he should poop at a certain time... try feeding him at a different time.

get a crate (or carrier) that is just big enough for him to sleep in & put him in at night...dogs feel safer in their crates when alone...walk him in the morning...he won't poop where he sleeps...there won't be enough room anyway...when you first start using the crate, let him go in without closing the door at first (during the day) so he won't associate it as a negative experience...close it when he goes in at night...in the morning when you let him out, open the door but don't let him come out until you tell him to...this establishes that you are in charge.

Always be CALM, but ASSERTIVE with your dog...don't yell at him or hit him...if you do, you will probably make the problem worse...he doesn't need to fear you...he just needs to know that you are in charge & he needs to be able to understand what you want from him .

If you watch "The Dog Whisperer" on the National Geographic Channel...Monday nights...you will learn SO much about how to comunicate with your dog in a way that he understands & how to give him the best life possible...the life of a dog..it's not the same as the life of a human...it's a GREAT show!

'For Petes sake, stop feeding the dog late at night. Cut off all food to the dog 4 or 5 hours before you go to bed. Then , what ever food he had to eat will have moved through the digestive system.

My dog goes and stands silently by the door when she needs to go out. She will not bark so I have to pay attention to her signal.
She still will sometimes get me up around 2am, if she has to pee. It's hard to get mad at her, because if she has to go, I would rather she let me know than find a wet mess in the morning to clean up. Sometimes, I am so deep asleep that the poor dog can't get me to wake up and on those rare occasions the poor dog finally has to let it go.

Hey, if you own an animal, you have to realize that what ever they eat or drink is going to come back out of them. Just like people.
If you don't want to bother with cleaning up after them, get a stuffed animal. No mess or fuss.
Anything alive needs care, just like people.
And like I said, try holding off on the food before you go to bed and maybe it will help.
Also, you failed to mention if your dog was young or old. A younger dog will have more trouble with holding it, than an older dog, although an older dog may be developing health problems.
Some dogs are just plain harder to train too.
Just please don't be cruel to the poor animal. Its not right.

If you have a yard big enough and have a dog house and chain outside there is nothing wrong with leaving the dog outside at night. You could also put him in a kennel over night so you dont have to clean up any messes.

I assume your dog cries, when you put him outside? About the crapping in the house... how young is he? My dog wasn't doing this after the first month! It takes patience, and time to train the dog... beating the snot out of them only traumatizes them, distances them, and takes longer! Only if you catch him/ her in the act, can you rightly punish your dog, sternly but not abusively! Otherwise, you are teaching them it is bad to take a dump... and they will try to hide it from you, whether they go inside or out! It is a natural function for them, (as it is us) do go, so the best method, is to get the dog to go on pads... how? put pads whereever the dog goes, then slowly reduce the amount of the pads... praise the dog, when it goes on the pad... finally, move that last pad closer and closer to the door, (slowly) until the dog then goes outside... regretfully, I did not learn this method until after I had trained my dog; but I do feel it to be a far more humane method! I simply yelled at mine, saying one word 'outside!', and hit him with a rolled newspaper... DO NOT hit your dog with your hand! let him/her equate the newspaper to bad, rather than your touch! One day while I was at work, my dog got hold of the newpapers... they where shredded throughout the house! He got his revenge!!! In less than a month mine was going outside. I got lucky though, JRT's are highly intelligent dogs.

Before you go to bed, either walk your dog a good twenty minutes around the block, or throw the ball around in the yard for him, the activity will get his system going and he will poop. Crate him thru the night, if he is not trustable too.

you don't sound very compassionate towards your poor dog. Have you tried crate training? Take him for a walk before bedtime. Be patient. Maybe he tries to get you up to let him out, but you are too deep in sleep and he just craps inside.

Give him supper at approximately 6 and nothing else after that. Take him out and walk him till he goes just before you go to bed. See if that helps his problem. He will keep crying outside because he is used to being inside. Consider putting him in a crate inside at night.

if your personality is like your avatar you are as nasty as you sound, you are a dog owner, you are responsible for that animal, its totally at your mercy, either get up or put down tons of newspaper every night, you are at fault not the dog, he is just doing what dogs do.
