Women are mor emotional then men because emotions start in the amygdala in both males and females, but in females eventually the division of the brain associated with negative emotions moves to the cerebral cortex. While in men emotions stay in the amygdala. Now, the amygdala is not well connected with the verbal processing and speech happens, while the cerebral cortex is well connected with the verbal parts of te brain.

I've learned it's best to pick your battles, some things are worth getting upset over and if you can effect a change over it then yes, let your feelings be your compass and guide you into action.
That's an example of a guy being practical.
Some fellas out there are a little bit hesitant to show their feelings because of the old american double standard that YES even you gals are guilty of! You want us to be strong, then you want us to show our emotions? I typically try to keep my emotions on a short leash as almost all women I've met view "emotional" men as weak.
I'm also an artist and that in itself can give rise to some really sticky situations if both people are "overly emotional" about something, someone has to be practical in a relationship.

If you have ever worked in a preschool you can see that boys and girls start out pretty much the same to a degree. But it starts very early that the boys are told and expected to toughen up, which is really so unfair. There are biological differences, but culture plays a bigger role. Men are not smarter by any means, in reference to the above @#$% but women can use both sides of their brain at the same time, making their thinking process more complex, which men have difficulty with. We use too many words for them so they think we are babbling when in actuality they just con not compute.

Men are taught not to show their emotions. They experience them too. However, they "learn" that it is better not to show them, or to fight for what is right.
As for rolling off their backs part - they either pick up a fight, or yes, ignore stuff if they decide it not worth to fight over.
Girls are taught not to fight. So they have no other choice than internalizing whatever they experience.

I think men get emotional too. They just aren't allowed to be emotional. They usually make jokes and laugh things off. My husband's had his third fight with cancer and sometimes things hit him a certain way and he's getting emotional because of what he's been through.

Well, the men got the brain part (the intelligence) and the women got the heart part (emotions). Why are you complaining?
