God does not exist except as a concept in the mind.
In fact, nothing exists except Being. Being is that one that you and everyone else refers to as "I" or "I am" when they start a sentence before they add stuff after it.
It is the feelingness of "I" in the heart, the sense of existence itself. Everyone has the same feeling of "I". Some call that "God" but really, God is just a concept. Usually it is the highest held ideal of what a "perfect person" might be like. But, it's still just a concept and thus always limited. And, if it's limited, it must not be God who is said to be unlimited.
At night in deep sleep, all is gone. Nothing exists except Being. During dreaming, a room can be filled with people, buildings, mountains, etc, and then suddenly it all vanishes upon waking.
This waking state is also like a night dream. It appears so real, but is not. If you were to put the mind to sleep, the entire universe would disappear, as it is only in the mind. If you put the mind to sleep forever, it would disappear forever... along with the concept of "God." Therefore, God is merely a concept... however, it is a concept that helps point toward that resting state of pure awareness we call "Being" or "Self."
God (beyond the mere *concept* of God) is that very Being---that very feeling of "I Am" or "I" that is felt in the heart of all and which is overlooked almost 100% of the time. It gets covered over with layers of ego misidentification (i.e. "I am this... I am that... I am great... I am a loser... I am... this body, this mind, these problems, a husband, a wife, a lover, a killer, etc.") But, really, it is the unlimited sense of pure awareness that simply gets modified by concepts of the mind.
Interesting that the person who wants this answer is Gate. If pronounced "Gah-tay", the name means "gone" and "beyond" in Sanksrit (http://vedabase.net/g/gate). How fitting, as the one we refer to as "God", goes *beyond* the mind's limited concepts.
From Heart Sutra:
http://www.io.com/~snewton/zen/sanskrit.html
GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SVAHA
(gone gone totally gone totally completely gone enlightened so be it)
God is a concept... though the concept does point to a deeper Truth that can be experienced/realized and yet never intellectualized, as it goes beyond the intellect.
This deeper Truth cannot be limited in any way, and any thought/concept that attempts to define or describe it is always going to be limited. Every thought is a limitation, cut from the cloth of unlimited Being. The concept of "God" points to That which is unlimited and beyond the confines of mind.

If you go back far enough in human written history, you can see evidence of the idea of god evolving (one god absorbing the powers of others in an attempt to create a common belief in a large group of people. There is also plenty of archaeological evidence in ancient ziggurats that suggest deceased kings were elevated to god status. That being said, you can't covince someone who goes on faith alone that god doesn't exist. Faith is the ever-present cop-out.

You can't prove god doesn't exist with evidence any more than you can use evidence to prove that invisible pink unicorns don't exist. However, I think it is possible to show that a belief in god (especially certain types of gods) is so absurd that it's silly to believe in them. But, it's really hard to provide that reasoning in this format and takes a lot of time to compile.

I cannot help you with disproving the existence of God, but I can give you some proof for a God, and here it is:

the subject with "data" is that God is super or supra organic; the data you're probable searching for is organic, or of nature. attempting to coach God exists by applying actual data is like attempting to repair an computerized transmission with a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. you're applying the incorrect techniques. How approximately attempting our "techniques" in basic terms as quickly as? have you ever examine the recent testomony? in basic terms the 4 gospels could do; approximately one hundred fifty pages, possibly a pair day's examining. provide that a attempt, and notice the way it is going with you.

Good luck with that.
If I could suggest, read "The case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. When he researched the book, his intention was exactly what you are asking. Instead, he came up with some pretty compelling evidence to the contrary.

Evidence? Gate should have asked for proof. Have you proof? If you do, then by all means,
set us wise that we may all believe!
What? You have no proof? Then I'll simply have to settle for Faith and continue believing in God.
Thanks for nothing. LOL!
