This is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore in Alabama. I want to know what you think of this. Do you agree with this or not? Any thoughts you have I would like to know.

America the Beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain.

From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray.

We've kept God in our temples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.

We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges
who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.

You think that God's not angry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:

Then God will hear from Heaven
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful,
if you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee.

~Judge Roy Moore

A beautiful poem. I agree with the judge. However, the poem only addresses the problem with drugs, misguided children, and abortion. These are but a few of our nation's problems. No poem can attack every social ill. This one does not address the underlying cause of so much sickness in our society.
Perhaps there would be less drug abuse, abortion, and misguided youth if there were a level playing field for all Americans. As long as we have a disenfranchised population that is too busy trying to eek out an existence to be concerned with the politics that make the laws of the land the illness will prevail and broaden. We can ask God's mercy, the bible guarantees it. However, we must first turn from our wicked ways and end racism and class-ism for God to hear from heaven and heal our land.

Sadly it strikes me as the sort of poem the Taliban might write in demanding that Afghanistan comport with Muslem law or suffer Allah's wrath. It's the poem of a theocrat- someone wanting to make his religion into the law of his land. It would be sad if written by any religious zealot, scary when you think that the guy was actually a state supreme court justice and ran for governor to try to enforce his religion as law.

Artistically it's rather dull and simplistic. More the poem of a politician than an artist.

Judge Roy Moore spoke the truth, and I agree with the whole thing

Sad because the purpose of this country was to have a government that didn't impose religion on anyone, didn't force people to believe something. The true meaning of this country has been lost from people who feel that God needs to be everywhere and in everything.

This guy is really scary!!! It is he who should not be allowed to sit on the bench. He renders his decisions based on his belief in a myhtology. People like Judge Moore are looking to force the masses of us to behave in ways that suit their belief system. It's just wrong. Oh yeah, the poem sucks.

This freaking poem again?

I wish it would just die.

Ok, so it is not so poorly written, but it is still a twisted hack of a message. Look away from these fools and toward the truth, I say!

Unlike those who wish this poem would go away, I don't think we can ever hear it enough. It is like the days when Jesus said, "For this people's heart has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing. They have shut their eyes so that they might not see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.'" (Matthew 13:15)
