I am at a loss as to what Muslim, Buddhist, etc. really stands for. Anyone interested in shedding some light? I don't mean nasty opinions, I mean for real. I just wondered what the major differences were and what they stood for. Anyone of a different religion, please answer and tell me a little about your "God" and what you believe and why. Doesn't have to be long. Thanks.

This site is a pretty good one for that.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/

It does not give information from a prejudiced point of view, but rather stresses TOLERANCE. It's important that you get your information from that type of place.

Asking people in general is not a good idea, because people tend to put their own prejudiced slant on the "facts."

No not really, since it would take 20 books to do any one justice. why not merely do some web searches on each faith.

Your question is like sayinig how many stops signs are in the US and please give all thier street locations, just too much for such a small space.

There are many types of Muslims each have different beliefs, that is why in Iraq you have one type fighting the other.

And in Christian faith there is most likely 10,000 or so denominations, there are about 40 seperate baptist groups not counting all the indepent.

So take one at a time do some web searches,
The Wikipedia search area on the bottom of these pages will give you a good start

I'm not Muslim, but I've been learning a lot about them lately. Seems Allah simply means The God. They are monotheistic, while most around them are polytheistic. Most Christians say they believe in another God, apart from Christianity, but the Bible says there is only one God, so I kind of doubt that.

There are at least 12 main religions in the world today, & all of which are in & of themselves divided into numerous religious groups, yet again.

Most of these religions are monotheistic(believing in Only One God)& a few of them are polytheistic(believing in numerous deities).

Christianity is a monotheistic religion, believing in Only One True God. However, we believe that the One True God Is Made up of 3 Divine Persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. We believe that God Came into the world in the Person Of Christ Jesus(The Second Person Of the Trinity) To Save us all from our sinful nature in order so that we will not be Damned to Hell after we die.

Buddhism is a polytheistic religion, believing in numerous deities. However, none of them in particular is the Supreme Being of the entire universe, & the Ultimate Reality of Buddhism is Dharma(which corresponds with what a Christian would recognize as 'Grace'). Buddhists seek to detach themselves from all forms of desire, believing that desire leads to suffering.

Islam is a monotheistic religion, & venerates Muhammed as the Greatest Prophet inwhich God Has ever sent to the world. Islam means "Peaceful submission to God."

Confucianism & Taoism are complementary religions, although Confucianism is monotheistic, & Taoism is polytheistic. Both originated from China & the founders of both religions(Confucius & Lao Tzu)knew each other. Both religions were reforms of the traditional Chinese religion. Confucianism emphasizes man's relationship with man, & Taoism emphasizes man's relationship with nature. Both Confucianism & Taoism practice ancestor worship.

Shinto is a polytheistic religion from Japan & means 'way of the gods.' It has numerous deities, ranging from nature worship to ancestral worship. The Emperor is worshipped by Shintoists. Shinto has no founder.

I hope some of that helps.

there is this "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but inherit everlasting life.

There is only one God and Christ Jesus whom He sent to preach repentance and to believe on Him, so that once again, we can commune with our Heavenly Father in His Name. What other religion has a God so near that you can call upon Him?
