I don't know if any of the experimental treatments under consideration actually cure HIV yet. Probably the best that can be done is to arrest it and prevent it. There is something called VivaGel made by Starpharma Ltd. which is in clinical trials, which is based on dendrimers (a nanotechnology product) which shows promise for preventing the spread of HIV to women, and might also be useful as a contraceptive.

There is NO cure. Magic Johnson has it, but it is under control.
And there is a difference between being HIV positive and having AIDS. HIV means that the person has the virus in their body but that it isn't in an active phase.
A person who's HIV that is active means they have full time AIDS.
There is NO cure, there is only prevention and managing it.

There are effective treatments but no cure. Just to clarify, HIV is what causes AIDS. Magic is HIV positive and is taking the drugs that help prevent developing AIDS.

There is NOT a cure for AIDS. The medication that is used to treat this horrible virus I hear is expensive. He may be able to afford things that average people cannot. Lets pray for a cure!

I'm a nurse and I haven't seen a cure, although there've been rumors. You know, if you're compliant with taking your medicines, you can get to a point to when the viral load of HIV is low enough to be undetected.

No! It is fatal. However, the wealthy and those with extremely good insurance plans are able to get the expensive medical treatment that will extend their lives. But even then their life expectancy is less than 15 years from diagnosis. Living longer than that is very rare.

no cure for HIV yet... just drug "cocktails" to slow down the progression of the syndrome
AIDS is the syndrome (collection of symptoms) that is caused by HIV, a virus

We have no cures for viruses. They mutate so fast that 2 aids patients are not even supposed to be together because they'll have different varieties of the disease.

antibodies can be created that will destroy H.I.V virus, so theoritically, it can be cured, but only the original strain. H.I.V. mutates so randomly that even if you did introduce the antibodies into your system, it would do very little good as the virus would just change it's chemistry so that the antibodies were no longer effective.

no, because that would be big news.
they do have "cocktail" medications, which is a varietly of different medications the infected person takes to make HIV dormant in their bodies, but it doesn't actually cure and rid the disease from the body.
