Your first answer was right on the money! Many ppl assume becuase labs and other short haired breeds do not shed.. well they do! All dogs shed, just as all people lose hair daily. It is best to brush the dog with a comb every day... I do about every other day, and once a month (I have a short coated JRT) I cut his hair even shorter, with clippers! We brush our own hair daily, so what would you expect when you take the responsibility of caring for one of mankind's best friends? My baby also gets new toys and treats, every month! He's spoiled, but such a good friend, he deserves it! Many ppl ask me if I took my dog to a trainer, and how did he get so smart... well, it just takes time and patience... ppl swear my dog understands standard English, but I think he's just intelligent, and keys in on a few words (JRT's can develope a 200+ word understanding!), and he reads me very well!

Buy a tool called a Furminator it is around $40 It is a tool that takes out the hair that will shed in the next 3 to 4 weeks. It is easy to use just follow the directions that come with the tool. You hold the tool againt the hair and gently rake across the hair in the same diretion as the hair grows, you will see the soft under coat coming out. It is best to bathe dry and brush your dog first then use the furminator. But this tool will reduce shedding by up to 80%. You can also use a product called Mrs. Allen's Shed Stop it has extra vitamins that help to reduce shedding that with a premium dog food like Nutro Lamb and Rice helps alot.

Get out the yellow pages and find a groomer who performs a service called "Shedless Process". It is a new grooming process where the groomer uses a special shampoo which is left on the dogs coat for a period of time. Then a device, think of a power washer for dogs, is used to removed the special soap. The "Shedless Process" removes so much of the undercoat and makes a huge difference. The groomer will tell you when the next process will need to be done. Another thing to keep in mind is excessive shedding. If it is excessive, you may want to talk to your vet. Unfortunately, a dog will sometimes have to be put on a steroid medication due to excessive shedding. Hope this helps.

Comb them on a daily basis with a shedding rake....they artwork way more effective acceptable than common canines brushes. I actually have a black lab so i think your discomfort. also you're able to imagine about feeding him a nutrition that is intense in protein and omega fatty acids...makes the coat shiney and robust...dry coats are more effective likely to shed. i have been feeding my lab "Evo" with the help of Inova for over a three hundred and sixty 5 days now and that's really made a huge difference...he's 9 and also you're able to under no circumstances no it...appears like a three 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous pup nonetheless.

Black Labs are famous for shedding. You are going to have to groom the dog more often. This will cut down on the shedded hari you are having to clean up.

Ohhhh a lab? its impossible. I had a yellow lab, he shed so much that i took him to a vet for treatment. I mean we are talking coming home from work to 3 inches of pet hair....they had a laugh, but then told me to bathe him daily and buy pet moisturizer (its like lotion you put on the fur)......it helped some but wasnt worth the money. Good luck.

I have a yellow lab and in the summer the heat tends to make them shed more and you should bath it with pet conditioner and feed it dog skin pills. Brush it more often ,too

Labs shouldnt shed.(much)
it could be the food ..its not nutrious enough which causes excess shedding.
Try a better dog food such as Nutro Natural choice (petsmart)
brush and bathe it..see if that helps too..
