They're generally the same thing. It's more semantics than anything.

A few states define DUI as a somewhat lesser crime, sometimes when you're below the legal limit but are obviously impared.

Yes, in some jurisdictions you can be busted and prosecuted for DUI/DWI even if you test below the legal limit. That limit is presumptive of guilt. The state is still free to press the case if they feel that you were unable to drive safely even though you tested below the legal limit.

DUI = Driving under the influence
DWI= Driving While Intoxicated

the difference between the two is that you can have one beer and be under the influence, but for DWI a breath or blood test will determine if you are legally intoxicated....

Check with your state, some treat both the same but others treat the dui as a lesser charge....

DWI is driving while intoxicated. You are over the legal limit. DUI is driving under the influence. You are not legally drunk, but you have been drinking.

DUI is driving under the influence, DWI is drivng while intoxicated, and is a more severe charge. It is a degree of drunkeness or drug impairment.

there is also OWI, Operating while intoxicated

There is no real difference, different states call it different things, it is all basically the same thing, drunk driving.
