I read that you have to have 4 years of college before beginning medical school, what are you supposed to major in in those first 4 years of college??

You can major in whatever subject you like for undergrad. The only requirements is that you complete certain science courses along with your major like: General Biology I & II, General Chemistry I & II, General Physics I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, and a few other sciences which vary by school. Major in something that you enjoy and just take your premed. classes on the side. That way, you will do well in your undergrad. major, have a high GPA, and better your chances for being accepted into medical school.

you can major in just about anything, you just need to make sure u fulfill the MCAT requirements, such as 2> bios, chems, physics, organic chem, microbiology, and calculus. Its preferrable to take an anatomy and physiology class (esp. when your doing the cadaver disections), and pharmacology class, only because they are a HUGE help...
