Is there a way to prevent muscle spasms, and before they occur? If not, is there a way to stop them before too much muscle is damaged? It seems I have a muscle spasm, particularly in my calves, every month or two. It almost always occurs in the morning when I am beginning to wake up...and of course there is no way to stop it....I hit it, squeeze it...it runs its course no matter what I do to try and stop it. I'm usually gritting my teeth and clutching my leg by the time it stops.....it is very painful. The aftermath is having an incapacitated leg for almost a week. Someone told me to stick a needle right into the muscle....does that work? I am afraid I will tear and have an even MORE painful problem if I try that. What are my options?!?

Leg cramps....are we talking about the same thing? A cramp is more like a sore, tied-up muscle. I'm talking about a full-blown muscle-spasm....the whole muscle contracts and you have little or no control over it.

So the potassium is for what? To help rebuild muscles when you work out? I take a multi-vitamin pretty regularly.....I'll eat some extra potassium just in case.
