You know, communism is an idea founded with great intentions. The theory puts all people on a level playing field. It just fails because people in general are greedy and selfish. There is no perfect system. I tend to think that a more socialist environment would be beneficial. Think about it. Only the arrogance of most Americans is what makes us think that capitalism is such a good thing. A lot of the world believes that it is a failed system as well. In this great society, how do we let so many be so very poor while so few are so very rich?

God no!! Only a freak would ever support communism. Its proven time and time again that communist countires are horribly poor, and oppresive. Many people on the far left in American are communist or at least support the ideas. Most far lefties have no clue what real communist countries are like though.

God, Todd! Give me strength! Leftists are NOT Communists! The ideal of Communism is actually a good one. In practise it has proved disastrous - which is why someone of the Democratic / Liberal persuasion would never advocate it as something that should be implemented. This is a fallacy perpetuated by the bias US media and repeated by no-brainers like Todd.

Nope, I tend to lean a little towards libertarian which is quite the opposite of communist.

Bapboy: If communism is a disaster in practice (we agree on that point), than the idea is NOT a good one. Whether or not you realize it many of the Lefts ideas are what communism calls for. To the extent the US media is biased, they agree with the Left.
