The first Continental Congress was the beginning of the end for English rule of American colonies. They meet in 1774 to address the "Intolerable Acts", taxation without representation, garrisoning of troops without cause, the disregarding of their rights as British citizens. The citizens of the American colonies were being treated as second-class citizens and they were mad. What came out of this Congress was the "Declaration and Resolves" as well as the botcotting of all British goods. King George III refused and so started the birth of our nation.

The second Congress met in 1775 to 1781. Since there had been no response from England for the "Declaration and Resolves" they meet to decide their next steps. The Continental Army was created in June of 1775. The next day they named George Washington Commander in Chief. The coined a currency. They created the Post Office. In July of 1776, they declared independence, approved by the Congress on July 2, adopted and read in public on July 4 and signed on August 2nd. This was the Congress of the revolution. The congress of Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and John Adams. The Congress of our Founding Fathers and the birth of our nation.

The First Continental Congress had sent entreaties to the British King to stop the Intolerable Acts and had created the Articles of Association to create a coordinated protest of the Intolerable Acts; in particular, a boycott had been placed on British goods. That Congress had provided that the Second Continental Congress would meet on May 10, 1775 to plan further responses if the British government had not repealed or modified the Intolerable Acts.
