No doubt her parents are doing all they can along with her doctor to keep this situation under control. It sounds like a terrible problem to have; do kids at school give her a bad time about her weight and appearance? Just try to be there for her, and offer her lots of support. Maybe offer to carry her backpack? Offer to pick up homework if she can't go to school? She probably feels a lot of pain sometimes and could use a good listening ear. She is lucky to have a good friend like you who cares. Just continue to try to be the very best friend you can to her. I hope her disorder improves.

My sister's best friend had a similar problem. There are some conditions that cause brittle bones. Your friend might have one of the conditions. Her mom needs to follow up with her doctor and possibly see a specialist in orthopedics.

I agree with the rest of the people - she should see another doctor. I would read up on brittle bones, articles such as the one below from webmd. That way you can be informed as to possible diagnoses, causes and treatments.

She went to the doctor. I'm sure he knows more than complete stangers from the internet. She is in good hands, let the experts do their job.

she should continue to see her doctor every month or however often they schedule. You should stick by her side - especially when things get worse - she will feel lonely & need a good freind to cheer her up!

I think her parents need to take her to a different Dr. for a second opinion and more treatment options.

pray for her and perhaps she should eat food with plenty of calcium. she might also want to drink more milk. another idea is to see different doctors for different opinions and remedies. i hope that she will be restored to great health.
