I have encountered MANY racist americans. I watch them in the news and in real life. I know not all americans are racists. In fact, I have many friends that are american and they themselves tell me how much they dislike america for how some of their people are representing americans in all.
Tell me, would the average american take a job in a construction site with pay of $5.00 an hour working 15 hours a day? No right? Who keeps america standing? We do! Why is america so hated by more than half of the world? Because america is concidered racist, selfish, and lazy. I've met so many people that have suffered so much just to get some papers that say they are allowed here. If you go to Mexico most people there will welcome anyone, no matter where you're from, with a warm smile and welcome. While we come here and are treated like criminals and trash. Immigrants deserve more. We're not from another planet and are not a different species. The world is loosing it's cultural rishness to america

I put this question in this section since so many people seem to come here.

Something else I forgot to say. Immigrants aren't better than Americans but neither are Americans better than Immigrants. We should all respect each other, at least, as the human beings that we are.

Oh and I'm an immigrant yet I am thebest student in my school. I have the highest grades in the city of Philadelphia. I've been invited to countless seminars for my exellence. That teaches that, we can be just as good, or better. As can anyone else. When we work at it.

Okay... did anyone actually READ what I said above?? My first or second sentence said, "I know not all Americans are racist..."
Read the whole thing before you answer people. You're only proving my point...

By the way, for your information. I am Puerto Rican. I don't need papers or a passport but I would never say I'm american. Simply because I'm not.

If I were able to I would leave the u.s in a blink of an eye without thinking it twice or looking back. Unfortunately, I'm a minor. But not for long. Most of the people that answered my question only quite emphesized my point on racist americans. Which I said, not all are racists on the third sentence of my first statement.

I myself was brought up to accept all people no matter what thier cultural, spiritual or other background. It does sadden me when I see other Americans being so judgmental and uncivil to others. I think that if someone wants to come into this country to make a better life for themselves and their families then they should have every right to do so. I think that ever since 9/11 some Americans have become too paranoid and have become fearful of those that come into our country from other places. We are supposed to be known as a great "melting pot" of different cultures and languages. We should celebrate diversity, not try to eliminate it. I feel proud when I see people from other nations come here and they work hard and keep their cultures alive here. Isn't that what it's supposed to be about. Freedom? It's like no one knows what that means anoymore. I think another reason we are so hated is that we are butting in to other countries' business and are bullies. I am so sorry that you have encountered racists, they are ignorant and sorely misinformed. America is made up of people who come from other countries and cultures and the descendents. I think some people have forgotten that. The only "true" Americans were the Native Americans, the rest of us are of African, Latino, or European etc. You know how that worked out. I think wwe should celebrate our differences. I agree that some Americans are lazy and selfish and not to mention the obesity and educational problems we are going through.

first and foremost i don't care where you're from or if you came legally but since you asked i going to tell you
1 i've been working in the construction industry for half my life and i make no more money than i did 20 years ago why because there are 12 million illegals working 15 hours a day for 5 dollars an hour and now because of that they would like me to be their slave also i don't owe you anything
2 why are all you idiots having babies you can't possibly afford to feed
3 what part of illegal do you not understand
4 since you have told me that you know you are not wanted why do you want to stay
5 this is about respect and i don't feel respected by you if you think you're so much above the law that you come here as an act of defiance and they demand to be respected yourself
6 there have been so many people sneak across the border in the middle of the night i can't tell who is who and no longer care when i see my nation going down the drain and the quality of life for my children that i used to be able to afford being reduced to the level of the third world **** hole you left for a better life
7 is this enough or should i go on
8 what you are not understanding is that you are only costing the people that have the least already and only helping the few that don't need your help
if your country is so wonderful go home i don't need you

I don't think most americans are racist. If your talking about immigration...more specifically ILLEGAL (as in not legal, against the law) immigration, a lot of americans are against that. However, it has nothing to do with race. We welcome immigrants that come legally from anywhere in the world and want to be part of our country. The racist charge is something that's used by those supporting illegal immigration, because they have no legitimate argument to make. Don't believe it.
Immigration should be a well regulated and fair system. We need to know who is coming in. We don't want murderers and other criminals coming in. We want good people. When you let anyone in, you're sure to get a lot of undesirable people. The really nice, law abiding people that respect our laws are in there own country applying to emigrate to the US and sometimes waiting years before they can come here. The criminals just come whenever they want because they don't care about the law. Why should we reward the people that cheat by letting them stay? Is that fair?
Also the level of immigration is too high. It's at a level that has become a significant burden on the citizen of the US. In California, schools are overcrowded with illegals and children of illegals, which brings down the quality of education for legal residents. Legal residents must have uninsured motorist coverage because so many illegals are driving our roads without insurance.
I don't blame the illegal immigrants as much as the US government that just looks the other way because businesses can exploit the illegals for cheap labor and because they want to suck up to Latinos for votes.
By the way, you assertion that illegals keep america standing is absurd. If that was the case, Mexico would be standing taller than the US because they have even more Mexicans to keep Mexico standing.
Look, I know most people that have come here illegally are decent people that just want to make a better life for themselves and their family. But so do people all over the world who are waiting in line and applying for legal residence. A lot of people want to come here.
If you come here legally, work hard, obey the laws, raise good law abiding children and love America...you'll have a very hard time finding an american that doesn't like you.

Your statement is so long and somewhat unfocused so I'm not sure how to answer or respond. I can tell you that much of what you think is 'racism' these days likely comes from the mind of an uneducated individual. Also, there is one glaring mistake in your above rant... Americans are NOT lazy. This is simply not a true statement and you should be ashamed for even thinking it. I'm not sure what state you're currently living in, but the majority of people I know work their behinds off each and every day. And if they're not working to support their families, they're attending school to further their education. By the way, I live in a city where we pride ourselves on diversity and higher education. Maybe you're just living in the wrong town?

I don't think you know the definition of a racist and your question shows both ignorance and disrespect for Americans. I am an American and will not extend a friendly welcome to anyone regardless of their nationality that broke the law to illegally enter the U.S. I find it disrespectful for a foreign born person to enter the U.S. and not even have the courtesy to try to learn the ways and language of their new homeland. I would'nt expect people in another country to change their language, schools, signs, etc. for me if I decided to move there. What kind of treatment would you expect if you broke into someones house and then demanded that they change everything for you? Apparantly you also failed to take any time to learn the history of the U.S. so here it is in a nutshell. The U.S. is what it is, because a lot of LEGAL immigrants came here, became americans in thought, language, and heart. They all worked really hard, as hard and sometimes harder than anyone of the immigrants you described, and usually for a lot less money. Most have never became rich and some even went the extra step to serve and die in the service of this country.....we call these people and their descendants Americans. If you wish to join this group I suggest you start with repecting them, their laws, and their country.

Are we talking illegal immigrants or what? because if they are getting paid $5 an hour that would be below minimum wage and thus illegal. If you are talking about illegal immigrants then they would be treated badly because they do not pay taxes on the money they earn like every other American. Working for cheap also drives down employment opportunities for Americans. Why would a construction company hire an American for $10+ an hour when they can get an illegal to do it for half the price?

Race should have nothing to do with it. If the USA shared a border with Europe and the French or Germans were illegally entering the USA and working for cheap wages, not paying taxes, etc.. I, as well as most Americans, would be furious with them.

I agree w/ dkr. America has, for so long, ignored the plight or interests of anyone except white males (and white females coming in a close second), and the "just desserts" are coming.

America is a very hate driven society - either by class or race, and I don't know which is worse. You can see the examples of ignorance in the answers to your questions. You won't get anything but a defensive attitude and comments from the biggest racists, and they are easy to point out. Racists no longer wear white hoods and parade around at night (well, they do, but in smaller numbers, and they do it in secret now), but they parade around the board rooms and classrooms of this country disguised as legitimate business people. They smile at the people they loathe instead of having the courage to hate openly. They create Yahoo! ID's and hate online instead of having the courage to hate openly. If you hate someone so much, stand for it, and don't hide behind "political correct-ness" or internet ID's.

Congratulations on being one of the best in your class. Keep on striving to be the best. Do you know why? Because...since you are not white, you will always, always, be expected to be a notch above what is considered excellent for the white person, just to be considered "good" because of being a person of color. But also remember that God hates racism, and he exacts his vengeance.

I am not a racist - I take people for what they are and look into their hearts, REGARDLESS of color (because I know that someone will call me "racist" here for telling the honest truth). America's policies, culture and classist society seeks to divide people, and we're more divided than ever before. I fail to see what is so bad about other countries...even poverty...that people would want to come here.

Construction jobs at $5 an hour for 15 hours a day.. in America construction pays good, and they dont hardly work when they are there which is usually 8 hours or less. I dont think Americans are racist because we are a mix of all races, I think we are just tires of people trash talking America.

I think Americans might be more racist than some other parts of the world because they are exposed to many more races in the "Melting Pot" known as America. I've been over to Europe a few times and can count on my hands the number of Blacks... (or ****** as theyre called there) on my hands. More exposure to something means more opportunity to form an opinion of it.

Racism refers to various belief systems maintaining that the essential value of an individual person can be determined according to a perceived or ascribed racial category and that social discrimination by race is therefore justifiable.

The word "racism" itself appeared in the 1930s, both in the English language and in French. Such racial prejudice usually includes the belief that people differ in aptitudes and abilities (such as intelligence, physical prowess, or virtue) according to race.

Most individuals who use the concept of racial categories believe that different races can be placed on a ranked, hierarchical scale. Racism may also be defined as the act of separating groups according to these ascribed race categories. In doing so the term receives the appropriate -ism ending, meaning the practice or act of doing such as described above.

By definition one who practices racism is known as a racist. Since racist became a pejorative term in developed nations during the last quarter of the twentieth century[citation needed], the identification of a group or person as racist is nearly always controversial.

Racisim is not only found in America. It's found all over, I live in the Bahamas and you'll find racist people here aswell-there are chinese, Greeks, Americans, British, Canadians and Europeans people racist against Bahamians because of the colour of our skin, not so much as what we have or don't have. I've experienced racism both at home becoz I'm a woman and in US because I'm black. Does it bother me? No! It only makes me stronger as a person and individual.

Yes you would find Americans that have to work for $5.00 an hour in a 15hr work day. Poverty is all over some-just that some have it worst than others.

As an immigrant you have to learn to accept the fact that you've entered someone else's domain and you can't hate them for wanting to protect. It's that fear of losing their sense of security that I feel breeds racism in people. I find myself having racist attitude towards Hatians here-but after having second thoughts-I quickly change my attitude because I remember how it feels to be descriminated against and I won't want anyone to treat my children that way.

I know ur frustration and wish you all the best.........
